Finally got the TV room put back together after painting and new carpet, and actually started using it again.

I was inspired by Morasp's great mixing of old and new shows to try something like it myself. This is what I watched during my first week:
Saturday:
Gunsmoke Season 1
Ep.1 - Matt Gets It
Ep.2 - Hot Spell
Ep.3 - Word Of Honor
Bosch...
I agree. I have never read any backstory, but I have never understood why they took a property like that and turned it into a cartoon. (Actually the cartoon was better.)
I very much agree Mannix was way better after it was re tooled for season 2. I do think it was strange that they pretty much just start over with no explanation of why Mannix has made the change.
Episode 18 - Claire
Episode 19 - Say Goodbye to Jennifer
Episode 20 - Charlie Harris at Large
Episode 21 - The Four Pound Brick
Episode 22 - Just By Accident
Episode 23 - Roundabout
Finally completed Season 1 Of my favorite 70's detective show. (Maybe my favorite 70's show period.)
I also checked out a couple of Gilligan episodes from the first season in honor of Dawn Wells. The only one that really featured her was called "The Matchmaker". It had Lovey trying to get Mary Ann together with Gilligan. Your description of silly but still fun was very accurate and I enjoyed...
Finally got around to a few Christmas episodes.
Dennis the Menace:
Season 3, Episode 12 - The Fifteen Foot Christmas Tree
Mr. Wilson decides that the fake tree Dennis's dad has picked out is not good enough and sets out on a mission with Dennis's dad, to get a real tree. By the time the dust...
Bachelor Father Season 1
Ep.1 - Bently and the PTA
Ep.2 - Bently Versus The Girl Scouts
This show was a pleasant surprise for me. I have a vague memory of it when I was very young, probably from syndication. Nothing great, but certainly holds its own with the other more celebrated family shows...
I still enjoy The Mod Squad, at least in small doses. I think it still stands up with the majority of detective shows from that era, almost all of which seem dated to some extent. The mod thing today feels like a gimmick to freshen up a basic police/detective series and I think it did give them...
I must be one of the few people who fall somewhere in the middle when it comes to the Honeymooners. Gleason can be overbearing and I was always confused when I heard him called "The Great One", but I do think the four cast members have a strong chemistry and I enjoy the show in small doses. I...
The Fugitive is one of my favorite classic shoes and David Janssen one of my favorite actors from that era. I finished the series in 2019 and have recently been getting the itch to at least work an occasional episode back into my rotation. One of the all-time greats in my opinion.
Same for me. I don't get to watch nearly as much as I would like, and a lot of what I do watch wouldn't fit in the vintage forum. Still I drop in here almost every day because I enjoy the discussion and get many ideas of thing I want to check out from everyone posting here. Thank you all.
Great review as always Rustifer. I have always enjoyed the first couple of seasons of Happy Days, but once it became "the Fonzie Show" I thought it went strait down hill until it had no connection to those early episodes. The slide is well under way by season 5 and is picking up downhill speed...
It is amazing how things have changed in the last 50 years. That Saturday night lineup was aimed at middle aged adults who were home on Saturday night and glued to the TV. My parents started the evening with Lawrence Welk and then watched that CBS lineup pausing only to make popcorn and use the...
All in the Family - Season 4
Episode 5: Archie the Gambler
MASH - SEASON 2
Episode 5: Dr. Pierce, Mr. Hyde
Mary Tyler Moore - Season 4
Episode 5: Hi There Sportsfans
Bob Newhart Show - Season 2
Episode 5: Emily, In For Carol
I came across an article this week that made the case for the...
Starsky and Hutch was one of my favorites as a teenager and I own the complete series and still watch an episode now and then. Even cooler was my older cousin who bought one of those special Starsky painted Ford Torino's. Very cool.
I think this would be pretty good if it were called "Dave Black Private Eye" instead of "Perry Mason." It has no connection at all with the classic series, they might as well have called it Matlock. On its own terms it's pretty good although very dark, but invoking the Perry Mason name pushes me...
77 Sunset Strip: Season 1
Episode 2 - Lovely Lady, Pity Me
Hawaiian Eye: Season 1
Episode 17 - Then There Were Three
There has been enough talk on the thread about these shows that I decided to dig out one of my old homemade discs recorded off the Goodlife TV network years ago. It turned out...
Maverick is among my favorite vintage shows and I think it holds up very well today. I agree that Jack Kelly was very good, but I would have to say that James Garner was just a a true TV and movie star and any show would suffer with his loss. I'm not familiar with the forth season, but if it's...
I have been alternating episodes of these two series for some time now. I am on season three of each, and I have been surprised to find I like Frasier a little more. I rarely watched Frasier during its initial run and watched Cheers all the way through, but the writing on Frazier is fantastic...
That's a series I have watched all the way through a couple of times, one of my favorite modern shows. Amanda Righetti deserved more screen time for sure
