One of the things that rubbed me the wrong way about Courtney was the way she changed her tone depending upon whom she was addressing. With the judges, she was all wispy and demure but when interacting with fellow contestants she was bold and brassy.
I have seen some episodes of the UK version of MasterChef with chef Michel Roux Junior. Very understated affairs which spend a lot of time talking about the dishes and the cook's vision of what they were trying to accomplish with what they put on the plate.
I've never seen the Aussie version either.
Those qualities were what drew my wife and I to this show at the beginning. It was so much more about the cooking (and learning) than Ramsay's other shows (Hell's Kitchen & Kitchen Nightmares). But I'm afraid now that the US MasterChef is now...
All due to the arbitrariness--again--of the way the pressure test was set up.
I was worried Jamie might be going home...even though she had done so well in all of the early rounds of the multi-tiered contest.
Sorry, Elizabeth...
Elizabeth: Do you really think Christian is the most hated contestant to date? I thought he had been mostly flying under the radar...getting very little attention in the broadcasts (compared to many others).
Never mind. I re-read your post. You were talking about a contestant in another...
We might just be on to something...

And, Glenn's right about Christian. Again, the arbitrariness of the three judges pulling him from the pressure test after he nearly sent them down in flames.

Stan: Are we watching the same show? He's been about the weakest cook of this entire bunch week after week. Unless you mean, of course, better contestant in terms of interesting or something like that...
He, of the artisan pizza...

For the record, when I...
I'd agree with that.
But that's one of the things about the game...the way things are taken totally out of your control. It becomes very arbitrary.
For example:
Bottom line, the remaining chef of the pressure test provides them with more "good TV."
Hey! That's a sad-looking little "artisan" pizza!
That was my favorite moment of the season so far!
And Courtney only had a half-hour and her dish looked three times better!
They know confrontations like those generated by Cutter make for "good TV."
That was a no-brainer.
As soon as Ramsay said in his run-up to the announced decision that Elise was going to be leaving that "the cook with whom we don't think we can work any farther..." I knew Elise was a goner...
That was a mighty strange happenstance.
I think there was more there than met the eye.
Somehow, Ramsay and company got tipped off (by production staff?) because there were certainly others who did the dessert half of the challenge. How would Ramsay have been so certain that it was Tyler who...
