IMO, I was thankful the movie ended when it did. Downright painful to watch (and yes, I *do* have an open mind when it comes to "family friendly" fare.) The FX and overall look of the film ranks right up there with the cheesiest made-for-TV or direct-to-video movie. It just looks cheap...
