DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Yeah, the sound mix is quite amazing...it reminds me of the best of Skywalker Ranch! I love it! I just finished watching Serenity at a friend's place - my 3rd time viewing it, his 1st. His wife, within 5 minutes of the movie's start, commented "this is just like a TV show". She left soon...

83 boxsets? Whoa - I think you've seen more TV than I have. I am not familiar with Sawyer's work, but I have seen him on a few SF panels at the local Con-Version SF convention. I haven't read much SF lately - way too many things begging for my attention nowadays! (BTW, I did enjoy...

Hockey and Tim Horton's - what else is there? :D Well, if you're not experienced with TV, and you say a movie looked like TV, I would assume you watched shows like Friends, Seinfeld, and um...Survivor? From that perspective, saying Serenity is like TV would be an insult. ;) If on the other...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

So basically you are saying that you don't know exactly why you felt Serenity was like TV. Fair enough, as no one has been able to quantify what makes a movie TV-like and what doesn't! :)

Just because the Burly Brawl was "100,000,00 times more challenging" doesn't mean it was any good. :) The CGI in it looked like crap and took me right out of the film. I guess it could be chaulked up to bad editing too! A fight can be realistic-looking but still (sort of) defy physics. Hell...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Serenity fight choreography subpar? WTF? Oh wait, I guess Tino never saw Batman Begins, where you can barely see who is fighting who. Or even worse, Bourne Supremecy, where each fight is an incomprehensible mess because they must have hired the camera operator from the Blair Witch Project to...

I think Tino is channeling the ghost of Ernest Rister. :D (Those who followed the earlier pre-release Serenity thread will know what I mean!)

Tim, I never saw a copy of Serenity in any store with a cardboard slipcase.

Dan, you guys should have seen it when you were not sleep-deprived! (Or maybe you had too much beer! :D ) I've had people nodding off in my Home Theater before - falling asleep during an awesome battle in "Return of the King" for example. This is why I never screen movies for others late...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

I watched the disc tonight - the transfer is quite good on my projector at 2.0x watching distance. For some scenes I sat closer at 1.6x screen widths away and did not notice any obvious flaws. No EE, great black detail yet has a great sense of depth - looks just as good as I remember from the...

I picked up a couple of copies of Serenity just now - English only on the side I can see. :) Firefly is on sale at HMV for $30 CDN - a good bargain if you're giving them away this xmas! Thanks for the clarification on BSG 2.0. It isn't out here yet.

BSG 2.0 is out on DVD? I'm confused - I thought it won't be out for quite a while. I'm interested in the $10 coupon that may be bundled with Serenity. As for the Canadian version, the screenshot at amazon.ca doesn't show any trace of a bilingual cover. I guess we will find out soon enough if...
