    Well, New Line announced the DVD release of The Golden Compass on Friday, and the Blu-ray release will have an uncompressed PCM 7.1 track. Guessing by New Line's track record with Mi Casa Multimedia, we'll probably get an EX track for the DVD release. And probably a DTS ES matrix track in there...

    Since when is Serenity EX encoded? The box and menus state that it was plain old Dolby Digital, and even the end credits list only a regular Dolby Digital logo. And I think Mike*Sch said Simpsons Movie wasn't EX encoded. Just wanted to make sure.

    Oh, you guys forgot another movie. Happy Feet is in DD EX -- it says so on the back of the DVD cover (and definitely sounded that way in the theater as well). Don't know if the theatrical DTS-ES track was matrixed or discrete -- but the DVD is just DD EX only.

    Nope. Strangely, when the film was initially released in theaters Dolby listed it as EX encoded, but reverted it back to regular Dolby Digital in the weeks following. I looked at the ending credits and listened to the film on my home theater system... was just listed as "Dolby Digital" and DTS...

    Another bit of news coming forthwith: all 3 releases of Lady in the Water are confirmed to have DD EX tracks (standard-definition DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray). There is no DTS 6.1 ES track for any of them, but there will be a Dolby TrueHD track on the HD-DVD version. Check it out at DVD Times. And...

    Oh, and add MUNICH to the list (found it on the Dolby website). There's no word yet on the DVD release, but it will at least include a DD EX track. (But considering Spielberg loves to include DTS on his movies, I'm guessing it will include a DTS ES track, too.)
