It doesn't matter how old the show is, a lot of people discovered it on DVD and the second season obviously hasn't been released yet. There are still plenty of people out there anxiously waiting for the second season with Fire Walk With Me still in the shrink-wrap begging to be watched.
The first season was actually released by Artisan. I haven't heard anything about a re-release from Paramount, but I'm sure it's possible. Either way, the first season is pretty cheap now.
That is fucking great news! I'm glad to finally hear something substantial regarding the rights issue. IIRC, LG/Artisan was a little hush-hush with exactly what was going on behind the scenes. It's great to hear that Paramount will be getting the rights.
Hopefully I can retire my pilot LD...
No news on the Season 2 front, but check out today's IMDB poll:
Which TV series was most unjustly abandoned after its first season was released on DVD?

Last I heard, the international release has been pushed back to 2005. :frowning:
Here's the last update @ Dugpa (unofficial though it may be).
Keep in mind that the following has not been confirmed, but since I have received more than a few emails on this, I am going ahead and posting it. Unconfirmed information has been released that Paramount International plans on...
Jesus!
I thought Artisan was claiming they didn't even have the rights for a while. Regardless, this is insane. Why in the hell does it take 2 years to figure out that sales weren't high enough.
And how the Lion's Gate buyout affects this, I have no clue....but needless to say, I'm pissed.
I feel your pain, Ron. I mentioned in another thread to keep your eyes on Bravo. They re-ran the series a couple times at the end of last year, so it may be a shot for you to see the second season.
Also, you could always hunt down the laserdiscs. Definitely a more costly solution, but a...
To simplify...here are the posts:
My original post:
There was a post on alt.movies.david-lynch today that says a source within Artisan has confirmed that Artisan has no plans to release Season 2.
This really sucks major ass. We need to start a petition or something.
David Lambert's Reponse...
And it comes full circle :)
John,
The Dugpa.com story references the TVShowsOnDVD.com story (written by this thread's own, David Lambert) that was started by my reporting of the rumor 2 days ago. In short, the Dugpa.com story is based upon information from this thread added within the last...
I highly doubt that Lynch could do it himself due to distribution rights. For the time being, I'll probably get a hold of the LD boxes that I need (already have #4 so only need 2 and 3), and wait for reviews of the non-domestic season 2 releases scheduled for later this year.

I've been considering buying the damn Season 2 LDs, even thought I've heard how crappy they are. They've gotta be better than my MPEGs recorded off of Swedish TV though :)
