Thank you, Kevin, for scanning that liner note from George. I have that laserdisc set but haven't taken it off the shelf in a decade opting instead to watch the DVDs or Blu-rays of the films and forgetting the unearthly amount of bonus audio material available on one of the alternate tracks.

Before I put the Blu-ray to bed, I watched the stereo version of "I Got Rhythm." It's a BIG letdown. There is hardly any separation, the volume is ridiculously low, and solo singers get lost a bit with the ensemble and orchestra. The mono version in the film is dynamic and exciting. Stick to that!
