TV Guide Spotlight: TV's Merriest Episodes!
I bought this collection of 12 Christmas TV Episodes in November. In order on the disc are: Bewitched, The Flying Nun, The Partridge Family, Roseanne, The Cosby Show, Married With Children, 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Ellen Show, Just Shoot Me, The...
Speaking of, I have an extensive collection of Christmas music cd's and the like. This year one of the ones I got in somewhat of a show of solidarity for the country right now: Ukrainian Christmas Carols. No translation as to what they were singing about. I must admit they all sounded much the...
I only saw this series a few times when it was actually on. I didn't know 2/3 of the episodes were on youtube (if that's where you found it). Thanks, I'm going to watch them; this Christmas episode first!
Even though the Santa Claus Lane parade on Hollywood Blvd. through the years was held on the day before Thanksgiving, until the '70s at some point when it was changed to the Sunday after Thanksgiving and the name changed to The Hollywood Christmas Parade, it's always been known as a Christmas...
I watched the Happy Days episode "Guess Who's Coming to Christmas" which I hadn't seen in I don't know how long. I liked Happy Days first two seasons before it was filmed in front of a live audience.
Wholeheartedly agree with these choices! I love Holiday Affair and I've often watched Desk...

I'll note that this episode must have cost a lot more to film. They had to dress the western town as a ghost town and also a thriving town from the past. Lots of extras in colorful costumes as well. I'm assuming they used the western street on the Columbia Ranch, where High Noon and The Wild...
Last night I watched a Christmas episode I'd never seen before.
The Partridge Family: "Don't Bring Your Guns to Town, Santa"
With that title I couldn't imagine what it would be about. The basic plot synopsis is: After performing in Vegas on Christmas Eve, the Partridges start the drive home...
When I was kid I remember watching "The Addams Family Christmas" episode when it debuted that year on Christmas Eve. I was wondering how many of the episodes we talk about here actually debuted on Christmas Day. (Or Christmas Eve.) Without searching right now, I can think of a few:
Christmas...
Speaking of Love, Ameircan Style, the idea of using blackouts if they needed some filler between the various lengthed segments was a great idea, but, boy, almost all of those comedy bits were positively dreadful!
(I have the only DVD releases of the series, Season 1, in two parts.)
Last year I bought a collection of Christmas themed TV episodes and included on it was one segment of the Love, American Style series titled "Love and the Christmas Punch." It stars Henry Gibson, John McGiver, E.J. Peaker and...Ann Miller!
I thought it was a hoot, though it seemed a bit...
My Favorite Martian
The Time Tunnel
Get Smart
F Troop
Burke's Law
Flipper
Twin Peaks
Batman
12 O'Clock High
Gilligan's Island
(Only done as an excuse to use footage from the original pilot that was excised. The 11 or so minutes of Christmas material is great, though, with their hope of...
Do you know the musical of Sunset Blvd.? It has a great New Year's Eve song:
The Perfect Year
NORMA
Ring out the old
Ring in the new
A midnight wish
To share with you
Your lips are warm
My head is light
Were we alive before tonight?
I don't need a crowded ballroom
Everything I want is here...

I watched the O&H Christmas in October episode last week with a friend. Earlier this year I bought the 1980/81 series of "Flo," a spin-off of Alice; two seasons, 29 episodes. One reason I did is because I'd never seen it before, but I was sold on it when I saw there was a two-part...
Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In | Season 3 - Episode 15 | Aired December 29, 1969.
I wanted to add this New Year's themed variety show episode to anyone's New Year's programming list.
This particular episode is primarily New Year's themed throughout with many jokes, running gags, the party scene and...
Maybe it's the "countdown to midnight" scenes in it or the traveling to different years aspect, but for the past several years I've watched the film Midnight in Paris.

The Lucy Show - "Chris's New Year's Eve Party" Aired 12/31/1962
I vaguely recall an episode of Make Room for Daddy with a New Year's Eve episode. Which brings up the question...why has that show never made it to DVD or even ever rerun?
___
All in the Family has at least one New Year's Eve...
I've never watched The Six Million Dollar Man, but I'll look for this episode some time as I've always liked Ray Walston. He was in two Best Picture winners: The Sting and The Apartment, which takes place mostly from Christmas Eve to New Year's Eve. Thanks for mentioning this, Scott, and Merry...
As you mentioned on your list, it kind of boggles the mind that Leave It to Beaver never did a Christmas episode. Anyone know why that might have been?
In addition to your list, F Troop, My Favorite Martian or Time Tunnel might have had interesting Christmas episodes.
I do wish that...
--Christmas at Pee Wee's Playhouse
I love this "very special episode" of Pee Wee's Playhouse. Not only are all of the regular cast of characters in it, but celebrities galore, like Frankie & Annette, Charo, the Del Rubio Triplets, Whoopi Goldberg, Magic Johnson, Grace Jones, K.D. Lang singing a...
Gary, I know you rated "Christmas in October" last on your ranking of the O&H Christmas episodes according to your criteria above, but of the 8 episodes I've watched so far, that one made me laugh the most! Very clever idea.

I looked up a post I made once about a Christmas episode that was...
I got to see this in a theatre once. When AMPAS had a screening of The Bell's of St. Mary's, they also showed this two-reel Oscar winning short. (Minor correction--this came out in 1945, same year as Christmas in Connecticut and The Bells of St. Mary's.)
I don't think I even knew the 1980 short-lived FLO spin-off from ALICE was on DVD and available. In fact, if I saw the show at all back then it was only a time or two. I'm thinking of getting it, especially because there is a two-part Thanksgiving episode and a Christmas episode:
--A...
I do love the upbeat joyful theme song, though: "Hooray for Santa Claus!" with Al Hirt's trumpet solos. I have his Christmas CD; not sure if it's the same arrangement as the film version.
I want to give a shout out to the most recent Christmas episode of any series in years that's already become a favorite of mine:
Ted Lasso: Carol of the Bells (2021).
I decided to inject some Christmas episodes I've never seen, or rarely seen, into my viewing this year, so I bought a DVD set that has Christmas episodes from these series:
Eight Is Enough, Yes, Nicholas, There is a Santa Claus" 1977
Suddenly Susan, "The Walk-Out" 1996
CHiP's, "A Christmas...
