Well, I just listened to the commentary track to "Big Fish" and I was happy to hear that it wasn't just Tim Burton. I forget who, but his name was Mark and he was good at asking Tim enough questions to keep him talking (which was a gripe of mine on Sleepy Hollow).
Me too. I don't want to have to watch the entire movie all over again just to find the few hidden features. I'm not positive which movie, but I think it was one of the Infini-film movies (like Austin Powers Goldmember) where they'd have one of those "White Rabbit" tracks, but they also allowed...
Don't forget the first season of South Park. True, you could get them separately, but they weren't included on the DVD. That's almost 5 hours worth of commentary that was recorded and then not put on the DVD.
Charlie, what I meant by Ouch was, it's hard to say "get on with your life" when there are so many commentary tracks out there. It would be one thing if all of the tracks were worth listening to, but there are a lot that are down right horrible. I (as so many others) live for DVD's and the...
But what about the point of these long pauses? I still have a hard time believing that someone (involved in the movie) can't tell stories for a few hours, yet a lot of people just sit there and act dumbfounded for long gaps at a time.
Hey kettle, this is the pot...you're black. Posting issues we have with DVD's is just a way for us to vent. It's harmless venting and shouldn't be taken too seriously, but to come here and accuse everyone as being greedy is a total cheap shot at everyone here. Please let us discuss our...
Since my last post was long winded, I thought I'd litten things up a bit. I recently got the "Triumph the Insult Comic Dog" CD that came with a bonus DVD. The DVD had a commentary track, it was hysterical because this is how it started off: Triumph comes on and says: "A commentray track...
I need to go back to this again. Why must you make everyone feel like a bunch of whiny babies? Please let us discuss our issues with DVD's without the lecture. As far as the 'nit-picky' things that we are all discussing, these are just being mentioned to keep an engaging conversation...
That reminds me of other tracks where you can tell that the commentator does NOT want to be doing a commentary track at all. The studio should never waste DVD space on tracks that are downright awful.
These are the kind of moments that I like in commentary tracks. Where they can almost make fun of themselves and not be so "Corporate" in their responses (like the typical "He's so great to work with" cliche)
Funny Story...While listening to Tim Burtons commentary on Sleepy Hollow he got completely silent during the windmill scene and he was quiet for SO long that I started getting into the scene and forgot I was listening to the commentary...when he finally spoke up, it scared me to hear his voice...
Ah Yes! The typical humbled director who has to make the comment that no one would ever want to listen to the commentary track...Argh! I can't stand it! They say things like: "...to the 12 people actually listening to this commentary..." or "...the 3 people who actually bought this...
This is a topic that I have been having so many issues with lately... I've actually come to loathe listening to commentaries because there are so many that are a complete waste of time. Especially on the movies that weren't recently in theaters...Is it too much to ask that these people watch...
