Today my iPad no longer has movies in the iTunes app (my iPhone still does, though). On the plus side, apparently complete series bundles now show up in the TV app.
I agree with Josh on this. AppleTV has supported 25fps since the introduction of the “match frame rate” feature, though perhaps in a non-integer. My receiver and flat panel would identify UK content from ATV as 25 or 50hz, while my projector would give a slightly more accurate figure of 24.99...
Oh, it’s just that blasted TV app. I thought your purchases weren’t showing up anywhere on the new unit. Maybe it is a defective unit then. Because If it were software related, I think others on this forum would have seen it because they loooooove the TV app. :)
Robert, just a thought. Your issue sounds like you are not actually logged into your regular account. Is there any chance you may have accidentally created a new account, which is what the new unit keeps logging into?
Except that the spatial audio feature on Apple’s air pods was designed to work with Apple products, and last time I checked Apple doesn’t make receivers.
High Frame Rate, huh? In small print it says High Frame Rate content limited right now. I wonder if this means Apple will eventually have HFR versions of the Hobbit Movies and Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk?
Because he using that loathesome “TV app”, rather than the iTunes movies app. When you are playing via the TV app, the swipe down is just as he shows, and you have to press the menu button while the movie is playing to see the HD or 4K moniker which pops up in a bar at the bottom of the screen.
Tony, you’ve got to tweak the settings. Set it to 4K SDR. Then set match dynamic range on, and also match frame rate on. That way you will get HDR only on programs that are supposed to have it, and also the original frame rate. As for everything coming out 4K, you have to live with it...
Anyone else experiencing a broken Amazon Prime app on AppleTV box? I have two AppleTV 4K boxes and both are at the same firmware level. However one has Prime Video app with the old interface which works fine and one has a newer interface, and will no longer stream shows or movies in 4K or HDR.
I confirm exactly what you are seeing. Episodes 1 and 3 of Mad Dogs have HDR and episode 2 does not. Something is screwy somewhere and I don’t know if the fault lies with Amazon, the Prime app, or Apple TV. All I can say is several months ago I watched Jack Ryan and Mrs. Maisel in full HDR and...
Robert, that’s because none of those titles are available for sale anymore, so AppleTV hasn’t kept the specs up to date. The director’s cuts of the Alien movies are no longer sold as separates, but are now available in the “extras” in the theatrical versions.
Yes, I think you've got it. iTunes will stream 1080p with Atmos. With Vudu and Amazon Prime, Atmos is restricted to 4K streams only. As for the Movies Anywhere app, I have yet to find a single title that has Atmos, so I'm guessing Atmos is not yet available there.
That’s just iTunes being weird. Rest assured anything you buy directly from iTunes in a bundle will be the 4K version. However it will port to Movies Anywhere as HD because iTunes has the bundle tagged as HD. I know this because I bought the Harry Potter bundle on iTunes and all the movies were...
After looking more closely, I'm finding very few Vudu titles I can even get Atmos on. Perhaps the issue there is you (TonyD) are just not finding Vudu titles that have Atmos? And also you'll notice the specs at Vudu.com definitely show Atmos as only on UHD streams, not HDX streams.
I have my ATV always outputting 4K and I think everyone else responding here probably does too, which is why we don’t see the same issues. It makes sense that Atmos may be tied to 4K streams on some content. As for Vudu, the only difference I notice there is Vudu Atmos streams with a core of...
Your Apple devices will only search in apps connected to the TV app. Vudu is not (and at this time can not) be connected to the TV app. If you go into your device’s settings and find the TV app it will show you all what is connected to it.
Hasn’t the iTunes 4k/not 4k issue been covered ad nauseum in these forums? If you BUY the title on iTunes you get 4K. If you redeem a code THROUGH ITUNES you get 4K. If you redeem a non-4k code anywhere else iTunes will NOT give you a free upgrade.
Let me elaborate on why the decision to make Apple 4K "streaming only" sucks. I have a lot of iTunes movies. iTunes has always had one big advantage over other digital providers in that they do not ramp down quality whether you stream or download. If your internet connection was too slow, the...

Now that I know that 4K iTunes files will not be downloadable, that makes it easy for me to stay off the 4K bandwagon for the time being.
It just dawned on me that the Apple TV 4K only has a single HDMI output, unlike Blu-ray 4K players that give you dual HDMI outputs so that you don't have to upgrade to a 4K compatible receiver. So for those who don't have the right equipment, it's going to be really tricky to get sound and 4K...
Hmm.. I've got an iPad Pro. I don't know the generation, it was bought last Christmas. Here's what I see, the 4K moniker but no download file size.
edit: Now I get it. The second gen iPad Pro came out last June and has an A10X fusion processor which supports 4K and my first gen model will not.
