Seems like it would essentially just extend the pre-season level of football for two more games, as if I was a coach I'd most likely sit my stars for the first two games of the season to ensure availability at the end of the season when playoff seeds are at stake.
Yeah, they weren't sure he'd even walk again after the injury. I cannot see him tempting fate by playing again, even if the team doctors would ever give him the green light.
We'll see. Adrian Peterson was convicted of reckless assault on his 4-year-old and I think was only suspended a few months by the NFL. And as recently as November 2018, Peterson admitted he still whips his kid with a belt.

Broadcast of the NFL Draft on ABC was the 3rd most-watched show on network TV last night, behind only CBS's The Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon. It actually seemed to pull viewers from other shows, as well, since several of them including CBS's sitcoms, above, posted new ratings lows.
Haven't...
Most Brady backups (and other position players) that move on to other teams have not performed very well outside NE. More evidence that the success in New England is more a product of the coaching than the players, I think. When Belichick retires or moves on will be a day of mourning for NE fans.
Agree that his name carries weight where his stats may not. The SB wins were largely due to lucky breaks/circus catches by his receivers, and most non-SB seasons have been quite disappointing.
I think he's more in the class with Trent Dilfer. SB-winning QB's whose overall skills are probably...
I'm a bit surprised ABC is having coverage in prime time on Thursday. Plus, if it's just fluff pieces with Robin Roberts, I'm not sure how many would be that interested (I know I'm not). I'd think most football fans would be watching ESPN.
The other networks are also showing new episodes of...
They could do that in college now, but it doesn't happen. Or not enough to warrant any changes, apparently.
If it becomes a problem, they could also issue an unsportsmanlike penalty on the defender. Two of those, and he's ejected.
I think they need to try something. If it doesn't work out, try something different.
I don't want this to become like baseball where they stubbornly stick to archaic practices simply because of some stuffy old "tradition" excuse, or they're afraid of unintended consequences, or the argument...
Yeah, I wouldln't put Mariota in quite the same injury-prone class as Sam Bradford (yet), but he seems to be pretty fragile. Carson Wentz seems to be headed in that same direction.
Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans to backup Marcus Mariota:

It seems like once a player signs a big money contract, they seem to regress in production. They now have the big payoff, so they seem to kick back and relax a bit. So I'm looking for them to turn in lower stats than what they produced in their last season.
I would also watch for a clash of...
Looks like they're willing to pay Gordon over $2 million for 2019:

It's funny how all these teams think they can just sign former Patriots players (and coaches) and somehow magically transform their team into a contender. Has any player formerly with the Patriots matched or bettered their performance after leaving NE?
Kirk Cousins, as well. He was franchise tagged twice in Washington ($20m+ per year) then got a big new contract in Minnesota (3-yr, $84m), none of which has resulted in any improvements for either team. In fact, Minnesota regressed last year, missing the playoffs entirely after making it to the...
The NFL has demonstrated repeatedly that they do not require proof of anything to punish a player or owner. To overturn a call on replay on the field requires "indisputable evidence." For the NFL to issue punishment, not so much.
I'm sure the NFL will mete out punishment regardless of the...
OBJ is not going to get the "biggest contract ever" in NE. They just don't go for stars with huge contracts.
Plus, Kraft is now in legal trouble, which will tie up some finances:

That limits many NFL teams. People wonder why the Patriots are so successful? I believe part of it is Bob Kraft keeps his nose out of the day-to-day business of the team and lets his coaches and managers run the show while Kraft just signs the checks. If you have good people, a hands-off...
If Brown sits out like Bell, would that mean the Steelers don't have to pay him? If they're going to take a cap hit anyway, at least they could be saving the cash.
I'd be tempted just to sit on him, if I didn't need to pay him. By the time he's eligible for free agency (3 years?), several of...
