It looks like La La Land, Manchester By the Sea, and maybe Arrival will be shown on the plane during my upcoming vacation. I'll be able to catch up on a few nominated films, albeit on a 4-inch screen with crappy headphones. ;)
There's definitely something there, as he cannot even manage any tepid, polite applause while everyone around him applauds and smiles. It's not like he hasn't lost before, he's been nominated for acting seven times and won two. Not sure what was different this time, unless he does this every...
Sounds like the Academy will continue to retain PwC to count the ballots, but will ask for new staff to handle the job:

Plus, the fact that we're all told in advance which film/actor/person is favored or likely to win in every category, and usually they're pretty close. This year's unusual BP presentation notwithstanding, why waste 4 hours watching a telecast when you already know most of the eventual winners...
Obviously PwC should have got it right. But if you're presenting the award for Best Picture, and you open the envelope (which is labeled 'Actress in a Leading Role') and the card inside says "Emma Stone - La La Land," you should probably take a moment and ask for clarification, not just blurt it...
I didn't watch much of the show until the last half-hour. I was unaware of the screw-up with BP until I was watching something else a bit later and saw a story about it (I'd flipped channels just after Faye said LLL won). Fortunately, my DVR was still recording on the ABC channel, so I was able...
I think that was the producer of LLL. I didn't really think it was rude, but I'm glad he showed the card to put any controversy to rest as it seemed Beatty wasn't going to show it. I guess he could have told Beatty to "hold up the card," but decided just to take it and show it himself to reveal...
I was also perplexed that the accountants/producers don't have a better contingency plan to immediately jump out on stage if there's an error. As soon as Faye announced LLL, someone in a suit should have been running out to fix it.
It wasn't as bad as the Steve Harvey thing, but still I think...
I'm guessing there will be a new accounting firm handling the ballots next year.
Yay for Moonlight!
Given Beatty's explanation, I'm not sure why he didn't just stop the presentation and say, "Hey, this is the wrong envelope?" And Dunaway was a big help, too.
Or like me, they get really irritated when the winners are anointed before the voting even begins. I would vote for the underdogs just to spite the so-called favorites.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see "Moonlight" take BP.
I don't understand Kubo for Visual Effects? Seems like animated films are all CGI visual effects from start to finish. Not sure how that competes with live action films with FX?
Also interesting that we have two Disney films nominated for Animated Feature, but no Pixar. No love for Finding Dory?
