Ron Moore has posted his podcast for the season 3 finale. Not much new in it. I still feel they missed the mark as far as retooling the season midstream as they did. I love where the show has been positioned but not the execution of how it was put there. BTW, beyond all the repeating cycles...
Adam you are more forgiving and/or enthralled with the mindfuck pulled off in the last 10 minutes than I am. The trial ran too quickly and even then it became obvious that Baltar was going to walk well before the trial ended so there was little tension in the so-called proceedings. The verdict...
Colour me stupid, but confusing was the word I had in mind. Ron Moore's podcast should be interesting, if and when it becomes available. Usually it is up by now is it not?
Many things to chew on but I admit, I'm stumped. What is with the Watchtower song? Are the revealed Cylons - or all Cylons, picking up earth transmissions? Many answers are due, but right now I feel like the show cheated this season.
Not much to add except that the stand alone episodes have blunted some of the dramatic moments of the trial. Many would have been much more powerful if the show had skipped the last 4 episodes and gone straight into this one.
Agreed this was better than the last few but then again the show should have been at this point 3 episodes as well. Considering how psycho Starbuck had become the grief shown by the cast came off as manipulative. The new lawyer character is very good. The big problem with the post New...
What a disappointing episode. For a series that was able to elicit deep emotional responses for events and lessor characters, the non-engagement of Kara's death is shocking. Listening to the podcast the gulf between what Moore believed this episode was evoking on an emotional level and what...
Three filler episodes in a row. It would have worked better to stagger them. OK episode but as noted, so predictable. Until now, that was never a term I associated with this show.
Helo is a breath of fresh air in a universe populated by characters who have had their moral fibre warped by the events of the past three seasons. Even Helo does not escape unscatched however, as he is the perennial outsider looking in. The upcoming Baltar trial is positioned to be even more...
This show was a case study in contrasts for me. The Baltar segments were excellent. The relationship ones were boring and irritating. Thankfully, as mentioned, this arc appears to have been put to the appropriate beds. I sure hope so. Definitely time to move on.
The arrival of the humans and the Cylons just before the star is to Supernova is just too fortuitous. Light from the sun to the earth takes 8 minutes, this one takes a hour? Different size stars would obviously have different temperate zones for planets to exist but I find the spatial...
You would want to only reveal the final five in the last season as Adam has stated. Doing it to soon, removes most of the mystery and suspense and pushes the series to tie up all the loose ends. Moore has stated the he sees BSG going 4 or 5 seasons, I believe. So starting the final 5 reveal...
Excellent write up Adam! It took me a moment to place the Tyrol porn addled heretic remark though.:) You are right on about the higher forces at work theme. A star ready to go supernova, both fleets arriving at the same time to the Eye of Jupiter, Tyrol's siren call to the tomb; they all...
Conjecture at this point and without showing it first, her seeking him out, especially when Starbuck has pulled herself together and Tigh has not, is very questionable.
I like the use of Bulldog to mirror Tigh's situation but there were two points that stood out like sore thumbs and seemed contrived. How did the 3 Cylon fighters know when the fleet was? If the Cylons know where the fleet is why don't they attack en masse? Also Starbuck going to Tigh with her...
Pretty good episode tonight. I wish the judgement moment with Gaetta had been utilized more for him to point out the vengeance aspect of the Secret 6 to the members.
