Yup. Does not eliminate the auto off function, which we were promised by some "industry insiders" would be addressed by Panasonic in a future update....
Another big F-You from this company.
What's worse, people on AVS are reporting some issues now with 1080p Blu-rays breaking up and pixelating...
Yeah....that's just nuts that they would replace a machine like the 9000 with a Blu-ray RECORDER.
What they SHOULD do is focus on getting some changes done that people have been asking for via firmware updates, for stuff like eliminating the auto-off feature, adding some aspect ratio controls...
Armageddon was released as a UHD Blu? I didn't even know that...
I wasn't even aware there was a problem with the regular Blu, if that was the insinuation.
Yeah, been discussing this on other forums; cannot BELIEVE we actually got an update for this (and, apparently, for the 820, as well...maybe some other cheaper models too).
I hope this solves the issues many owners are having with some titles freezing and such, but I am still waiting for...
For those of you discussing/pondering the abilities of the Panasonic UHD Blu-ray players to recall playback position, let me share this because I have had a lot of experience and understand how it works, especially in these units...
When viewing a DVD, there is NO way to resume ANY disc...
OMG....it's almost like someone has it out for Panasonic....or they're trying to collect some insurance money because they're in deep like Onkyo was....
The MKII release, as I understand it, will only improve upon the audio side of things with the UB9000, as it had something to do with a fire at a factory in which some internal audio components were made for this player.
Either I DID receive a bad unit or something I'm doing is causing these players' disc drawers to get whacky on me (because this is the second UHD disc player in a row to exhibit some kind of noise issue near the disc drive/drawer area in my setup, and it's too weird to be a coincidence at this...
I also just came across this comment from someone who just bought the unit via Crutchfield a few days ago:
Disk tray is a little scratchy and squeaky and I feel the need to get in there and oil it
Some replies from elsewhere:
1. How does everyone else's disc drawer sound when it's opening and closing? Mine makes some light clicking noises and sounds kind of labored. I had a 205 before this and the drawer was smooth and quiet.
2. Mine sounds the same, it’s a weird sound but appears to...
Yeah, no this has been from day one -- that's precisely the reason I shared that comment from the other owner on the UK site. I'm thinking some of these were sold with drive units that were "rough" or not balanced too well, because that's what I have been hearing.
Thanks.
I don't think there could have been any buildup of hair or debris, though, in this case because the noise was occurring out of the box since the day I got the unit. We do have a dog in the house, too, but she is a Chihuahua/Corgi mix and doesn't shed like that.
Funny you mentioned UK forums because there is another owner on AVForums.com who swears he has heard the EXACT same noise I'm hearing from day one with his UB9000 -- and that's a UK-based discussion forum. I have also read comments from people over at AVS in their dedicated thread for the player...
I somehow knew it would be you that would single this paragraph out after the lashing you gave me on here about being bullied and banned from that cancerous, vile site I can't even mention by name. This is precisely the unhelpful "advice" I am referring to, and I should have put you on my ignore...
Can a UB9000 owner confirm something for me?
Does your disc drawer close (and sometimes open for that matter) with a bit of a "roughness" to it...as if sand seems to be caught in the gears? Since the day I've owned mine (had it since the start of the pandemic, pretty much) I have experienced a...
