Ahhh yes -- there are shots of the building in the film. One of the opening sequences, if I am not mistaken, and then later on when Nimoy and Sutherland are talking on the roof terrace.

Thanks for this info; sorry for the delay in responding -- I didn't get a notice saying there was a reply. I suppose that is why the HBO On Demand version still has the roaring MGM lion (Leo)...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Something I noticed on the Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Kino disc -- when I watch this film via HBO On Demand, the opening logo is that from MGM (with Leo's infamous roar), but on the Kino 4K/Blu-ray, the opening studio logo is that of United Artists (and/or I think "Trans"...

Thew in the accompanying 1080p Blu-ray from this set, which Kino Lorber claims was based on the 4K scan/transfer done for the 2160p version, to see if it too makes noise in my Panasonic DP-UB9000 -- it doesn't, which means the 4K disc is what is giving my player problems. The transfer looked...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Update: Received my replacement copy of Invasion of the Body Snatchers via Walmart.com (my first copy came from Best Buy), and unfortunately that copy makes noise in my Panasonic player, as well. Must be something in the way this UHD disc is interacting with the Panasonic's drive...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Interesting; many of my 4K discs make a horrible noise when first spinning up or loading, but it doesn't continue into the feature film. It did with Body Snatchers, which wasn't acceptable.

The person who posted in that owner's thread was me. Nobody else is reporting this. Either way, I couldn't get the disc to play without issue no matter how many times I tried, so I returned it to Best Buy and ordered it for 10 bucks less from Walmart.com, thinking that hopefully it comes from a...

Thanks for confirming. I can't find any information about anyone else's disc being faulty...either I got a bad one, out of all the millions that went out, or my $1000 UHD Blu-ray player can't handle certain discs and/or is failing.

Thanks for the confirmation; so it's either my Panasonic failing, or a faulty disc...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Have a question about the Kino UHD BD of Invasion of the Body Snatchers which we just received in the mail; if this is not the proper place in the forum to ask it, I will either start a new thread or request that it be moved to the Kino Insider area. Played it twice now in a row on two separate...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

I just received my first Kino 4K Blu, Escape From Alcatraz (prior to this, I only purchased one other disc from the label, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three on 1080p Blu-ray), and while the transfer and audio were acceptable, I was put off by the fact that there were no chapter selections...

Also -- any word on the Leviathan 4K release?

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Thanks for your reply; there's no way I'm paying that, so I guess I'll hold out or watch my non-anamorphic DVD when I get my old Cambridge Audio CXUHD 4K disc player back into service (it has zooming controls that allow for blowing these kinds of transfers up).

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

I'm having a hard time tracking down a copy of Ronald Neame's Meteor (the KL release) to replace an old MGM non-anamorphic DVD, and a representative from Kino replied to an email of mine saying the title is completely out of print and not available through them any longer. Does anyone know...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

From what I have read, yes, the Kino and MGM Blu-rays share the same master. Not sure if they were on the MGM disc, but there are some cool special features on the Kino release worth checking out beyond the commentary, such as interviews with Hector E. and others.

    Good to know.

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

As I alluded to, it's probably what Kino had to work with; it is an improvement from the MGM non-anamorphic DVD, which was riddled with aliasing galore and artifacts up the ying, especially after it's been zoomed in on and blown up to reach the proper scope ratio for playback, but it still isn't...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

The only Kino disc I have in my collection is the original Taking of Pelham One Two Three, purchased to replace the pretty ugly-looking non-anamorphic MGM DVD. To be honest, the picture quality, even on this Blu-ray, isn't so great, but some sequences stand out with nice detail and improved...
