UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Halloween (1978 - Scream Factory) -- in 4k UHD

I fail to understand the point of your objection. This movie has a very controversial history of revisionist video transfers. Obviously, discussion of those is relevant to discussion of the latest, possibly-revisionist video transfer. I think what most people here would like to know is what...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Halloween (1978 - Scream Factory) -- in 4k UHD

No, it looked nothing like the THX DVD. Both the '99 DVD and the 35th Anniversary Blu-ray were supervised by Dean Cundey, and both were attempts to radically revise his original photography. But they do so in completely different ways. For the 35th Anniversary master, Cundey decided that...

None. That DVD didn't just have "color timing" as it's usually done. Many scenes were digitally repainted to give them brand new autumn colors that look completely different than the original photographed colors. That was a one-shot deal and no Blu-ray release has replicated it. However...

I found the link. This is an interview from October 2017 (which is incidentally after the "supervised and approved by director John Carpenter and director of photography Dean Cundey" Arrow Blu-ray of The Thing was completed and in the pipeline for release)...

I doubt that the problem with the last master had anything to do with the source elements. It was all about Cundey deciding, that day, "I feel like the movie ought to have no color and super elevated black levels. That might be interesting. Let's do that." Prior DVD and Blu-ray masters also came...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Halloween (1978 - Scream Factory) -- in 4k UHD

That's it exactly. Cundey doesn't care a whit about what the movie was intended to look like when he originally shot it. Every time he supervises a new transfer, it comes out how he feels it should look on that particular day. He supervised two transfers of The Thing (Shout Factory and Arrow)...
