FWIW, I had the BD-only edition because I don’t have a 4K disc player, but the digital copy included with the BD redeems in 4K on iTunes. That was an acceptable solution for me.

If you want it in both disc formats, yes, it requires two purchases. They’re both sourced from the same master though, so if you’re 4K capable I’m not sure there’s anything to be gained by picking up the BD version.

The 4K disc set release includes the newer master on a 4K disc, and the older colorized version on a Blu-ray disc. It does not include the new B&W master on a Blu-ray disc.

I would imagine most have it but this is the kind of impulse buy, stocking stuffer type item that can be stocked in places that usually don’t sell much physical media and pick up some sales. Years of television airings have made this a perennial stable - it’s just a movie that’s well associated...

This is probably nearly 100% profit. It won’t sell a ton of copies but anything will be a bonus because all that’s new is the packaging. It’s the same discs from the 2019 release so for the small price of printing some new packaging, stores will carry it and they’ll get some impulse buys from...

Exactly. This is just one of those “maintenance releases” that helps get a popular title on store end caps for the holiday season. It’s not meant to be a double dip for people who already own it.
