Universal repressed a disc which did not solve the problem and sent out several copies before they became aware of their mistake. No one has actually received a truly corrected disc yet. They do not yet exist.

I was sent the wrong disc. I asked for a BD replacement but was sent the UHD instead. As I do not have a UHD player, this is of no use to me.

I think their 2-4 week time estimate for a replacement was wildly over optimistic considering that there is a replication logjam for fourth quarter titles in addition to the pandemic slowing down all aspects of the business. I trust that it’s coming and will be pleasantly surprised when it arrives.

Check your spam filter. The response is not from Universal but rather a third party that has been contracted to handle to logistics of the replacement. Response came from [email protected]

I’m glad it’s being fixed but what a bummer that it happened in the first place. The cost of reauthoring and replacing the discs could very well exceed the profits that the release was expected to generate.

Hmmm, you could be right. I have the one from the Masterpiece set and it does have something that’s labeled as mono on it. I haven’t checked since this thread to see if it’s a real mono or a fold down.

It’s available on all of the previous Universal-produced BD editions of Psycho, which was from around 2012. It’s not limited to the UK print run of that title. If you have the older Psycho, you have the real mono. If you have the one from this week, you don’t.

It doesn’t strike me as being that odd. It would have made its first run in its uncut form, and the trims would likely have been made to allow the film to be suitable for aftermarket venues like television.
