I think it’s a good starting point because it has a bit of everything and gives a great perspective on what a Cinerama travelogue was like. If you enjoy it, there’s more to buy. If it’s not your cup of tea, at least you’ve given a wide variety of the films a sampling to come to that conclusion...
If you have entirely too much time on your hands and are a bit on the OCD side, you could rip the video from the disc, throw it into an editing/effects software setup, and create a custom warp to do just that and then render it back out so you could play it on your TV. It’s a little above my pay...
I reviewed these and enjoyed them:

I remember when we used to wait for the disc to actually come out before we looked to criticize it.
Very excited to see this restoration! At the very least, it will be leaps and bounds better than anything that’s publicly available now.
I saw Ghostbusters there during its reissue a few years ago - really nice place, and I sincerely hope it remains a classy and above average experience. I’ve never been able to get the timing right but I’ve long wanted to attend actual Cinerama films there.
I think the first point worth mentioning is that the source article for all of the closings sites that it’s most likely a negotiation tactic for the leases - the landlords apparently don’t want to budge on back rent they couldn’t pay when they were legally required to be closed, and the chain...
I have been incredibly satisfied with each and every prior restoration project you’ve worked on, Dave, and I am certain that I’ll feel the same way about this one. Don’t let the pixel peepers get you down!
That might have been me, mea culpa. I was going off an ancient post from back in the day that stated such and shouldn’t have taken it as the gospel.
I am absolutely delighted to read the entirety of your update and will gladly purchase the disc once it’s out!
From what I remember reading at the time, Warner didn’t want Smilebox and Cinerama didn’t like the standard version, so that’s why a compromise was reached where both versions were included. I would hope that it would be the same. I doubt Warner developed a love for Smilebox and I doubt Cinerama...
Hi Tommy, please see Dave Strohmaier's post from earlier in this thread:
https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/my-2-cents-worth-on-brothers-grimm.358328/#post-4637268
He addresses how he would restore the film if he was given the greenlight to do so on a smaller budget based on his...
Whether Mr. Strohmaier is retired or not is completely irrelevant to the discussion. Warner is unwilling to restore it themselves at the high price point their internal restorations cost, and are unwilling to allow anyone else to work on it either. They are unwilling to release any physical...
I did know that WB owns half the title, but since they control the physical assets and would need to sign off on any release, I was concerned mentioning that would just create more confusion.
Let me be clear: I am 100% in favor of a release of this title. I have spoken many times about my...
Unfortunately, there will be zero movement on this title unless and until Warner amends its policy to allow for relaxing their standards for special exception titles. They only are willing to do work in-house, but do not have a cost-efficient method for restoring this title at their own...
