I won't! It's one of life's great simple pleasures to go into a movie blissfully unaware of most it, only knowing that it's made by a filmmaker whose work has been previously enjoyed.
I never consciously plan it this way, but every few years in the summer months, I seem to go on a mini Hitchcock binge. And it seems to be about that time again.
Oh man, it looks so much better than the VHS copy I saw back in the day. You’re in for a treat. It’s visually sparse but Hitchcock really uses that to his advantage and this disc looks pristine.
I blame you! :D
I’m watching The Wrong Man now - I saw it years and years ago and have very little memory of it. I bought the Blu-ray as soon as it was released but am only getting to it just now.
I just ordered it from Amazon.co.uk - Jamaica Inn, Young and Innocent and Sabotage. Including shipping, all three discs combined were still cheaper than buying just Jamaica Inn new from the U.S. Amazon on its own.
Even if they do - can't imagine they'd make the 2020 slate at this point, so if it's the choice between importing at a low cost and watching now, or waiting for Criterion, I'm probably inclined to just get the UK edition so I can watch the movie while I'm still in a Hitchcock mood.
I wouldn't...
So I'm looking to pick up some Hitchcock I'm missing - I'm region free so that's not an issue.
Is the UK still the best option for Young And Innocent and Sabotage?
For Jamaica Inn, the Cohen version in the US is nearly $40 at Amazon, and the Masters of Cinema from the UK is under $10. Any...
Yeah, I think it's Fox. I guess it wasn't a huge seller on DVD for them, and I don't think they've got any other Hitchcocks that they can pair it with. Maybe Twilight Time or Criterion could pick it up?
Very cool... I'll file that away for next time. I got some Hitchcock Blus for Christmas that I hadn't picked up yet (Strangers On A Train, To Catch A Thief), can't wait to see those. That'll either give me my Hitchcock fill for the moment, or send me into a binge... one never knows.
