I think that was a mistake. I think Lucas should have given C3P0 to amidala, a queen would have a reason to own a portocol droid. And he should have placed R2 as obi-wans buddy, rather than anakins. It would create less of a plot hole (however minor), and it would make obi-wans declaration...

Sure their are. But the problem is most of them seem forgotten by the time ROTS starts, and it is as though we are starting all over. Also, all of those seeds point to someone who is angry and impulsive, but not necessarily bad. There needed to be something really big to push him over the edge...

I may be wrong, but the impression I got from the final scenes of ROTS is that they are a montage of events spanning the next twenty years, in order the bridge thee gap between ROTS and a ANH. But I will have the see the movie a second time to be sure.
