Thing is another 15 minutes to each, especially OOTF anf HBP, adding the stuff with Neville and Vold/Gaunts IMHO would have made for much better films with alot of good background info. Funny I comment on those 2 films could use more fleshing out, as they may be the ones I enjoy most.
Potter IS a powerful wizard. And yes, he became stronger since OOTF. Thing is we dont even really see Harry reach his potential. He would continue to grow and learn and become even more powerful. Potter is extraordinary ( but then so is Hermione), but as I said, the books explain all this...
No Lou. After not reading anything from King since Misery wa released, I decided a few years ago to reread some of his stuff... and was actually suprised how much I didnt like them. I picked up a bunch of his books... The Stand, It, The Shining, Salems Lots and a few others, but Dark Tower wasnt...
Voldemort became weaker as the horcruxes were destroyed. We see Voldemort collapsing and such as the horcruxes perish. He was much more powerful in his confrontation with Dumbledore than with Potter. Potter wouldnt have stood a chance against Voldemort of OOTF as that film showed pretty...
Vaughan, Voldemort was killed when weakened, his own spell backfired on him. After Neville kills Nagini, V is severly weakened. Potter realizing that the last Horcrux is gone, fires at him again. You see the red and green lights meeting, but the green blast from Voldemort begins to go backwards...
Vaughan, the books matures as they progressed - like the readers. Thing is theres ALOT the movies skipped over that make for a much more rewarding story. I enjoyed all the books, but while they started out as "children's fare", they certainly didnt stay that way. My cousin, whos a writer...
About the reshoot. I read that not only was the makeup a problem but I believe they were unhappy with the scene, feeling it was rushed done on location. They refilmed it at the studio where they could take their time. I just looked for the article,I read it yesterday and was unable to refind it.
I believe those deaths happened off the page as well if I remember correctly. Wasnt it the same way we were told in the book? I enjoyed the film - but do wish there was a bit more of Snapes memories from the book in that scene.
I thought the ending was terrible. I would have liked to have known what happened to so many of the characters. DH should have had another couple chapters (at least) following the big showdown.
In spoilers for nonbooks readers..... Bellatrix mentions the sword is supposed to be in her vault, but how are they to know the cup is a Horcrux when they come across it - without Harry previous knowledge of the item. Also I dont remember, how do they discover Ravenclaw's Diadem is a...
"Leaving out the first one puts them in a quandary for DH Part 2, because without it there's no way for Harry to know about that particular item." Exactly my point, only you said it better than I did.
I've nagged on about this in threads before. I though it was a big mistake not to include the Neville/ Harry thing in the OOTF film, and how Voldemort actually brought about his own demise by choosing the Potters. Dumbledore talked about it in the book. I think its important. I wont spoil it...
Newest trailer with lots of new stuff in it.... http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/movie-talk-harry-potter-deathly-hallows-full-trailer.html edit: That page contains details those unfamiliar with the books might consider too spoilerish.
I recently read all the books in a row in a 2 week period to refresh my memory, and thats exactly where I guessed the films would split. Adam, Regarding your spoiler, Order of the Phoenix revolved around the prophecy - while not going into specifics about WHY its so important. As I said...
I hope theres more explaination that has been missing from the movies especially from books 5 & 6. Without going into spoilers.... stuff like Voldermonts parents and the Harry/Neville/Prophecy thing. I hope these things are mentioned in the last films. The Harry/Nevile thing is important...
