    Hell Just Froze Over....

Did not know Heroes was coming. Very curious to know if "Carry On My Wayward Son" is finally included. Was the song not included in the earliest video incarnation as was the case with other MCA/Universal titles, such as Nighthawks and The Thing, that were later "re-scored"? Is Uni going to...

    Hell Just Froze Over....

Yes, it's the Jeremy Irons film. As I understood it the Trinity was not anamorphic so I kept in on my most wanted list. I also was not sure about the legitimacy of the Trinity release. This was released by Universal Classics and my old laserdisc is from MCA. I assumed Universal still held the...

It is great to see so many movies that never even appeared on VHS come to DVD. You're right that the Demme and Mann pedigree might move those titles into Criterion territory. I would love to see Citizen's Band get the deluxe treatment. I could be wrong, but I think there may have been some music...

Good call on Duddy Kravitz. They are doing Mandingo so why not the Nigger Charley films. Hopefully, MGM/Fox will do right and put out Drum, if they still have the rights.

Lots of good ones on here, Bradley. I'll strongly second Eddie Coyle, Firstborn, Love With the Proper Stranger, and Citizen's Band (aka Handle With Care). Little Fauss and Big Halsy is of interest as evidence of Michael J. Pollard's brief stardom and for the sight of a nude Lauren Hutton...

I wonder if the Legend/Paramount partnership might lead to a release of Jerzy Skolimowski's Deep End. It was recently revived in a new 35mm print. I suspect that the soundtrack, which includes Can and Cat Stevens, might be holding this one back. Thinking about it a little more, it's probably a...

Thanks for the update, Jeff. Never thought we'd see Mandingo, let alone uncut. As for Baby It's You, a Legend Films exec was nice enough to let me know that it and French Postcards are the same re-scored versions that have been previously available. All the same, I will have a hard time not...

Thanks for the information, Mark. You have mentioned these Fotomat releases in other posts in the past. Have you ever seen one of these Fotomat tapes in person? I'd love to know what the artwork looked like and if it was anything similar to the old Magnetic Video design. I knew of the American...

    Hell Just Froze Over....

Yes, when the films have played on cable the soundtracks have, thankfully, been intact. In addition to the opening tune, French Postcards was also missing Nicolette Larson's "Lotta Love," Linda Ronstadt's "Just One Look," and at least a few others. There was a club scene which featured some...

Thrilled to see Baby It's You and French Postcards on the list. I'm concerned, however, that the original soundtracks will not be restored for these DVDs, especially since they are not actually being released by Paramount. Still, I will hold out hope until the discs actually materialize.
