    Aladdin (2019)

Jeez, I hope the sequel is better.

    Aladdin (2019)

I agree, but the movie was a fail for me.

    Aladdin (2019)

We just watched the movie in 3D imax. I found it to be a movie whose sum doesn’t equal the whole of it’s parts. The performers were fine, but I found the magic to be missing. I wanted to like this movie and I wanted it let it stand on it’s own. I failed at the latter and that apparently kept...

    Aladdin (2019)

And the Carpet claps! :) I’ve gone from being very worried about the blue genie to being very eager to see this movie.

I don’t think you have to have recognizable names to get good voices and I think theirs voices are excellent. Their enunciation could be improved and the opening and closing bits of music I don’t care for. The video seems a little over dramatized but I guess that’s the way it’s done now.

    Aladdin (2019)

I see that now. It’s unlikely I’ll get to see this in imax 3D, I’ll have to see it in a regular theater.

    Aladdin (2019)

    Is this a 3D movie?

    Aladdin (2019)

What’s really interesting about that costume is that it appears to be worn by The Invisible Man.

    Aladdin (2019)

I tend not to notice these things. However I do notice the Christmas season arrives sooner every year. Before long, it’ll start right after Memorial Day. OK, I exaggerate (a little). :P

    Aladdin (2019)

Before I got to your comment, I thought the same thing. The rug appears to be pointing to the lamp.

    Aladdin (2019)

The reason I was asking was because that style of art would be a beginning of a pattern to carve a pumpkin. So I am looking for the style on the cover of the tiger.

    Aladdin (2019)

I love this image of the tiger. Is there an identical version that shows more of him?

    Aladdin (2019)

The rug was a character in the original and not just a mode of transportion. If that’s not there, I will miss him.

    Aladdin (2019)

Is the flying carpet in the film? By that I mean, a rug with a personality?
  15. Johnny Angell

    Aladdin (2019)

That trailer is much better. I’m looking forward to this. It strikes me that the character that may be the most difficult to translate to live action is Iago, the parrot. Gilbert Godfried defined the role, perhaps more the Robin Williams defined the genie. The parrot has been very sparsely...

    Aladdin (2019)

I agree, just have Smith himself be the Genie and don’t muscle him up.
  17. Johnny Angell

    Aladdin (2019)

Actually, it’s Smith’s head on top of the genie’s physique. Doesn’t the movie refer to the genie as a slave? Maybe they wanted to avoid Smith’s natural skin because of that? It looks weird to me more for the genie body than the color. I think you are right, they should have reconceived the...

    Aladdin (2019)

I watched the trailer again, and I think what is really weird about the Genie’s look is his muscular build. It is odd looking, it does not fit preconceived notions of what Will Smith looks like. If you showed it to someone who has no knowledge of Smith (there’s gotta be 10 of those in the US)...

    Aladdin (2019)

Call me a dirty ol’ man, but that sucks. I thought we had gotten over the “can Jeannie show her belly button” a long time ago?

    Aladdin (2019)

That's the same as saying it's unreasonable for Disney to honor their contract with Williams.
  21. Johnny Angell

    Aladdin (2019)

The issue I remember is not that everything he did wasn’t used, but that some of his off-script performance was used. Williams felt he gave them more (and it was used) then he was paid for, and it upset him. As for the other issues you mentioned, I have never heard it before, but I’ve no...

    Aladdin (2019)

Concerning compensation from Disney, it is my memory that Robin Williams felt ripped off by Disney, at least for a time. He went into the recording booth and gave them so much more than what was in the script, and Disney used some of it, and didn’t offer any further compensation. That’s my...

    Aladdin (2019)

    Wasn’t that the censored song?

    Aladdin (2019)

I think a “Friend Like Me” is the better song.

    Aladdin (2019)

I wouldn’t take that too seriously. When I was in college and taking a class about educational TV, our instructor told us an anecdote about a local TV production of that had a nativity scene on the set. When taking down a set instructions such as strike and kill our often used. So the director...

    Aladdin (2019)

I'm a real fan of animation, IMHO, and I will see these remakes unless the reviews or buzz is bad. I have been watching animated films in theaters since I was a kid (a condition that I have long since aged out of). I've never felt like I was being judged and I've seen many a kidless adult in...

I sure it was an oversight so I fixed it for. Your welcome. ;)

    Aladdin (2019)

Yes, it would be a huge mistake to try to duplicate Robin Williams. Reminds me of a song, "The Impossible Dream."

    Aladdin (2019)

I agree, Jasmine was no Sleeping Beauty waiting for her Prince to rescue her. She was a fully realized character.
