    The COVID Vaccination Thread

I've only ever gotten Pfizer from the start, and have just felt a little tired for a few hours. Yesterday I got it and flu together for the first time. Nothing bad except after a few hours I just felt very sleepy. It's now been 26 hours and I feel like the grogginess is going away.

I’m glad to say, none of the vaccines has given me any side effects. I felt tired after the bivalent two weeks ago, but I went after work, then ate dinner, which always makes me tired anyway. I do tend to believe that reactions to the COVID vaccines could be an indication that the virus would...

Got my bivalent booster today. I had scheduled it last month, but then felt a little funky the day before and canceled it. I scheduled the flu shot at the same time, but it turned out my insurance didn't allow it at the pharmacy I went to. So I guess I get to make a second trip to their...

It should be, since a second booster is only for those 50 and over or with vulnerabilities.

I’m at nine months, which is why I decided to put off booster #2 when I heard this was coming.

I delayed my second booster since I was expecting this to be coming. I’ll probably get in as soon as I can.

I got my first booster on 11/30 and have been planning to get a second one. I really do try to get the most reliable info regarding the reality of what's going on and what's coming up. My interpretation is that the pending specialized boosters should NOT dissuade anyone who is eligible from...

This is absolutely astounding to me. Is this the same doctor you posted about earlier who was actively discouraging vaccination based on shaky information, or was that a different doctor? In either case, both instances involved a primary care physician actively being a pawn to partisanship...

That is FLAT-OUT incompetence. Immunity isn't binary, as you know. I would find a new doctor. If someone was infected in the last few weeks, that's one thing. I believe you need to wait at least two months after clearing an infection to be vaccinated. For a doctor to be spreading that...

After a bit of thought, with our Governor making boosters available to everyone after a certain amount of time, I went ahead and scheduled a booster at the end of the month of the same Pfizer I got the first two times. My feeling was that 8 months seemed like a good time frame, and this will be...

I just dropped by this thread for the first time in a while, so sorry if this has already been said. My understanding is that an mRNA booster is actually recommended for those who got the J&J vaccine initially. Our Governer (Colorado) just declared a type of medical emergency which is supposed...

That would depend on where you live. In my city, even in WalMart it's been virtually 100% every time I've gone there. In the next town over, only 15 miles away, it's more like 50%.

But some things will permanently change. Some things should change. In March I bought a new car. A couple weeks ago I got the notice that the title was complete and to call for registration. I waited about 30 minutes on hold, during which there were repeated messages to be patient and not...

I think the reality of life now is that those who are willing to take action will be having boosters once or more per year for the foreseeable future.

I'm officially at maximum immunity. The effects I had from both shots were what I'd call extremely minor, bordering on imperceptible. I had the shots at 11:00 AM, went back to work after the 1st with my usual Wednesday off the next day. For the 2nd shot, I took that day off as well as the...

Unfortunately, this treads the line of HTF rules, but when someone who has 30 Million nightly viewers innocently states "Maybe the vaccines don't work and they're just not telling us" there's going to be a lot of hesitancy.

I was agreeing with you, if doing it badly. EDIT: Somehow I quoted myself when I intended to quote Josh. So no, I wasn't responding to myself.

It's the same logic that says it's not worth the risk to take a vaccine that had one death in 7 million doses (which was probably due to improper treatment) when for every 7 million people who get COVID, about 110,000 die and as many as a million are at risk of long term problems from the disease.

Yes, one study indicated 80% effectiveness and no serious illness two weeks after the first shot. Honestly, that's better than almost any other vaccine, so delaying the second shot in order to vaccinate more people was the best solution

I've only been stung by a yellow jacket once, but I was really surprised how much it hurt. Right on the tip of my pinkie finger. Not as bad as being bitten by a black widow, which I've also experienced once, but a lot closer on the pain ratio than you'd expect. To stay on topic, I got my 2nd...

I agree. The main downside is the practicality of a single dose for rural areas, where they could just come to town once and have mass vaccinations. It sounds like the US has secured enough vaccine overall to vaccinate over 550 million people, so we will have vaccine to spare.

Yes, you still need to take precautions. The good news is that recent studies indicate that after two weeks the first shot of mRNA vaccines show 80% effectiveness. For me, that was just a load off, though I didn't change my caution at all. Tomorrow morning I get the second Pfizer shot. I'm...

There's logic to support that, though not any real tests to back it up. The nasty thing abut SARS viruses is for most people, even though they've never been exposed to it before, their immune system just takes care of it. That doesn't prevent them from being a carrier for a couple weeks, but...

Well, that isn't all you talked about. I was actually referring to "This should be an object lesson for society to allow people to stay home from work when they're ill, rather than the common "we tough it out when we're sick" mentality".

A family I went to school with K-12 and grew up three blocks from each other lost both their parents in a 24 hour period to COVID the week after Christmas. And I disagree back. I can only control my own actions. If we don't get out of this due to the actions of others, WE don't get out of this. If I have to get a booster every year because of them, I will get a booster every year. If I have to get a booster twice a year as well as wear a mask...

I was mostly responding about my amazement with the thinking of some people, but as I had stated earlier, what I actually fear is what Carlo mentioned. At 85% we get out of this. At 70% or maybe even less, not so much. And I think 70% is pushing the reality of what we are likely to achieve.

You'd think. However I know someone whose son died of COVID who refuses to be vaccinated. I know someone whose daughter was horribly and permanently injured in a car accident, not wearing a seat belt, who has made it her life purpose to rally against wearing seat belts. What I tend to see is...
