First dedicated Home Theater build w/ $10,000-$15,000 budget. Help me get there.

My HT hobby is actually instrumental in maintaining my sanity although the extent I actually do so is certainly debatable. My wife tolerates me largely because I'm her tech support. I'm under no illusions otherwise. I apologize for any part I may have had with information or suggestion...

I see what you did there. Respect! I've never understood this desire for tactile feedback as we're all used to phones and "soft" buttons by now. Speaking for myself, what matters most is that the buttons are large and bright enough for me to see in my otherwise dark room. I also love the...

This is one of my old pics. I've had these "racks" for many years. As simple as they are, they get the job done and I've never felt the need to replace them. They came from Wal-Mart and probably cost around $30.00/ea. I'd humbly recommend you click on the link in my signature below as it...

You shouldn't need a dedicated circuit for theater lighting and, since the space is already finished, I wouldn't assume one is needed for the equipment either. I'd only spend that money if problems arise later as there's no advantage to doing it upfront in a finished space. For cables, check...

Mine were included in my last post but the Elac line @JohnRice recommended are definitely worth a look as well. If I were buying now that's probably what I'd go with.

You've made some great choices! I agree with @Josh Steinberg on the UHD player. I have that model and it is a great bargain. Prior to purchasing it I owned the venerable Oppo 203 which is in a class by itself but, for pure film playback, the Panny beats it in my opinion as it is better...

Ah, that probably explains the basement. I was in the Bay area back in the day. I guess further north, basements exist. I would strongly suggest you take a look at both before deciding. You might just be surprised.

Yea, even I was unwilling to make that compromise aesthetically.

Welcome to HTF! Before we go any further, how did you get a basement in N. Cal??? I grew up there and never heard of such a thing. Now on to the issue at hand. My observations are as follows. You are trying to accomplish a whole lot up front, especially for your stated budget...
