She’s living the “dream” for an MCU geek/fan! Imagine being a big fan of comics and the MCU and now she is a part of it and able to text Feige on a whim?
Of course, the downside is she now knows some of the stories beforehand and can’t enjoy it like a fan anymore. But as someone in the know...
Based on the history of the comics (which I haven't read), Kamala could definitely be in a serious situation, if fan theories about the bangle are correct. Though now that Josh mentions it, to me Carol looks more bewildered than concerned. So, it could go either way.
But I love the idea that...
Thanks for the article!
From the article, I found the following quote by Nia DeCosta interesting:
In an interview last year, DaCosta said of bringing the three characters together:
"It’s interesting, and something we thought about and worked through a lot, which was how do we get each of...
I’ve mentioned previously that The Marvels is my most anticipated Phase 4 film, and that hasn’t changed after Ms Marvel.
Like you, I enjoyed Captain Marvel quite a bit, but it falls into the middle of my MCU rankings, as I felt the opening scenes on Hala felt a little rushed (I would have liked...
Re: Ukraine - very true. It’s now fallen off the “Breaking News” type segments because it’s been almost 5 months and other news has taken over.
But recall when the conflict began, it dominated the news headlines for several days? I would like to think the same would apply to the celestial...
Awesome link, thanks Josh! I had seen it being advertised, but was too busy at work (I think).
I love that she is first and foremost a comics geek and an MCU fan. I'm guessing many of the other main MCU actors are not, but started reading the comics when they got the part. This could be a good...
Excellent points about the leadership vacuum in the Avengers!
Even if Sam doesn't see himself as a leader (yet), I would assume that he and Rhodey are close enough that he could have called on him for the final battle, especially since they were conversing earlier in the series.
Maybe, as...
What's perplexing about the War Machine example is that, Rhodey was present at the start of the series! So it would have felt natural if Cap had sought Rhodey's help, in addition to calling on Bucky and Sharon Carter (who had to travel from Madripoor, located in SE Asia!).
For sure - as much as I want the connections/references to be there in every entry, it just takes time to be addressed. Each film/show is going to be focused on what it needs to focus on.
Eg. Many questioned how Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis were discussing Endgame's final battle in WandaVision...
True - depends on one's point of view. But I think the tweet is specifically targeting the Avengers (since the focus is typically not on the general public, except for them being in danger), who are supposed to be protecting Earth against all types of superhuman or otherworldly threats. The...
I saw a tweet after Thor: L&T came out last week, that said (paraphrasing): "Is no one in the MCU going to address the fact that a frickin' celestial rose out of the ocean?"
Maybe the timelines haven't caught up (ie. what happens at the end of Eternals is the most recent MCU event?) but that's...
A MARVELous final episode! :D
Probably my favourite out of all the D+ MCU shows so far.
I especially liked that there was a lot of fun infused into the action scenes. There was gravity to the situation, but it didn’t forget that these were kids with some ingenious ideas.
Not necessary, but if there was to be a cameo from an established MCU hero, this would be the most natural one (ie., it wouldn't feel jarring or out of place).
Plus, like you, I'm a fan of Brie Larson, so it's more a wished-for (and fun piece of) fan service rather than a desire to get the...
I’m still hoping that we see a cameo of Brie Larson in the final episode. It would seem natural since Kamala is a huge fan of Captain Marvel, and it would lead in to The Marvels.
Cap M: Hey kid… I’ve heard a lot about you.
K: Captain Marvel!
Cap M: Come with me. I need your help.
{Final...
Another good episode, though I agree there appeared to be "short cuts" taken for story purposes these last 2 episodes. Last week I asked how the Clandestines were able to locate Kamala so quick (inside a hidden location as well!). We just had to accept that they could and would.
I still find...
The following is the Marvel "show" that's available on the Disney Wish cruise ship.
It features Kamala in her "final" costume before it's even revealed in the TV show! Maybe this is not necessarily canon per se, but still, a fun and interesting watch.
Agree with many of Adam's and Jake's comments.
The pacing in this has been smoother than most of the other MCU TV shows. It's been a very good mix of discovery, exposition, and action. (Though I wonder how the Clandestines located Kamala so easily?) Many of the other MCU shows had a mad rush in...
Wondering if The Illuminaunties is meant to refer to the MCU’s Illuminati (how would MCU 616 know? Podcast?) or general nod to the Illuminati shadow organization (as referred to in Angels and Demons by Dan Brown)?
I also got Superman: The Movie vibes with her rescue of the boy. Though I wonder how much time she took changing into her costume (Christopher Reeve performed a quick spin in a revolving doorway)!
Agreed - very engaging episode! With plenty of history, background, and cultural context. Fabulously done.
I'm also liking the weekly episode drop... though I also like the binge possibilities if all episodes dropped at once! It's easier not to be spoiled if it's only 1 episode at a time...
Good choice to maintain consistency. Though I also expect her to re-use Pinar Toprak’s main theme for Captain Marvel in The Marvels, like Alan Silvestri did in Endgame.
Not an expert on Ms Marvel in the comics, but there seemed to be a brief glimpse of the “embiggen” power that a lot of fans were concerned would be missing or changed?
