Agreed - if they had explained it prior to Vol. 3, then it wouldn't need to be in this film. But Vol. 3 would be the natural chapter to place it in, barring a one shot like you suggested.
The only other film where it could have been explained is Thor: L&T, since the Guardians are there at the...
Certainly the Peter/Gamora storyline needed to be resolved, otherwise audiences would be asking, "Where's Gamora?"
And that's due to the nature (and expectations) of these more "solo" (ie., non-Avengers) entries. Because it's a Guardians film, we expect the whole gang that's been there from the...
I'd also like to see more of Pom Klementieff's Mantis. While more of a supporting character when intro'd in Guardians 2, she has grown into an important part of the team, with her unique skills. Her partnership with Drax is both touching and funny.
I felt the same way about Joker (2019). Much too grim and depressing for me to revisit.
But Vol. 3 does have some humour throughout and hopeful scenes at the end (Joker had little, if at all).

Very good end to the Guardians trilogy! While some reviewers (eg. James Berardinelli) thought it was overlong, I felt it earned its length. There were enough emotional stakes and goodbyes that you have to let the ending breathe, rather than cut things off. This is especially true when you’ve...
I tried to outline some possible reasons in my post before yours. All IMO, of course. I don't know anything that happens behind the scenes. So there could be other reasons.
While there have been some disappointing entries post-Endgame, I'll continue to watch, if only for the occasional great...
I would agree that post-Endgame, there has been less consistency in the MCU's output.
Some of the reasons may include (IMO):
1. The push to develop content for the then-fledgling Disney+ service. Whereas previously it was, at most, 3 MCU releases a year, this push would lead to maybe 6 or more...

Since Florence + The Machine formed in 2007, I'm guessing this is not part of Peter Quill's mixtape(s)? ;)
(Yes, he could have discovered it when he was on Earth post-Endgame, but a low probability?)
Got the tix!
I thought the session I wanted was almost sold out (4 seats left) but then I realized it was a different location. My regular one had plenty of seats.
Phew!
Fun fact: So, essentially much of the supporting cast of Crazy Rich Asians is now in the MCU!
Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Ronnie Chieng, Gemma Chan, Ken Jeong, Remy Hii, and now Santos!
