You’re likely right that disc players will be available for the foreseeable future, but I got a little paranoid about this issue this morning, and bought a couple of spare UHD players as backups- one Sony, and one Panasonic. Better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them.
When the special edition BluRay came out, someone posted that the default audio was out of pitch. I bought the disc a while back, but haven’t gotten around to checking it out. Obvious problems/shortcomings in disc releases is inexcusable, and it’s easy to understand why people prefer streaming.
I am one who prefers physical media- too much time and money invested in my discs and setup to get interested in another medium, I wouldn’t use the WiFi enough to justify streaming, and I’m one of the dumb asses who doesn’t know how to stream. 😝
My explanation for preference of physical media is how long I’ve been collecting laserdiscs, DVDs and BluRays- I started my collection in 1989. Hard to break away from a passion that has lasted over 30 years.
