Both REINCARNATION OF PETER PROUD and ELVIS (Kurt Russell) were released on VHS by Vestron. ELVIS was the 2-hour international cut-down version, though, so I guess technically the original uncut version has never been on video.
Quite a few of those titles already had video releases, including MIDNIGHT, THE SENATOR WAS INDISCREET, THE KEY, KING OF JAZZ, MADAM SATAN, ISLAND OF LOST SOULS, THE HORN BLOWS AT MIDNIGHT, KEY TO THE CITY, MAJOR & THE MINOR, THE FACTS OF LIFE, ANY NUMBER CAN PLAY, SON OF FURY, MISS GRANT TAKES...
Oh, wow, I have SYLVIA on tape somewhere, too, as I'm a Carroll Baker fan. You listed some other good ones there. However, TIME TRAVELERS was officially released on VHS through Thorn-EMI. DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE GIRL BOMBS was put out on VHS through Orion.
Great post, Jeff-K. I totally see where you are coming from. I have seen some of your posts on this forum before and always thought you were smart and knowledgeable. Thanks for being cool with my little tirade. By the way, the only taped treasure never on video that I could find in my pile of...
Jeff Krispow: I am sorry if I came off as a bit rude or condescending (I can be that way sometimes). It really wasn't necessary. This should always remain a free forum of discussion and debate. I tried to correct some previous posts from members, and maybe came off as a bit rude, but I was...
Thanks for the history of homevideo and laserdisc. So, young people who don't know anything about history can now dictate that VHS never existed because the word 'video' doesn't include that format anymore because it was substandard and a long time ago. These young people think "never on...
Well, considering the header of this thread includes the word "taped treasures" - that pretty much indicates taping movies *on VHS* that never had an official release in any format. Just that you want to ignore a format that was the primary video format for over 20 years by calling it a...
The 1958 film with Kim Stanley? Good movie and definitely worth seeking out if it's being shown on TV, but it was released on video by RCA-Columbia so it's really not a "never on video" treasure.
And your comments are useless to this thread since we are supposedly talking movies "never released on video", not movies that you want on DVD. If you want to talk about how useless VHS releases are, that's another topic for another thread.
Four of these films already had VHS releases. I'm done trying to salvage the original point of this thread. I don't think anyone really needs another "not on DVD" thread, but if that's what this has become, have fun guys! I'm done here.
