I cracked my set open last night, and was pretty disappointed that none of the women get featured at all. Cassi and Athena were the reason I watched this show as a kid, figuring Starbuck was only lucky bastard (though you'd think he'd know enough not to be fooling around near control monitors)...
Can anyone confirm whether the movie version is still nonanamorphic? I'll just keep the old one if that's the case. This was the first Galactica I ever saw when it was shown theatrically in Canada. Needless to say, the TV premiere was a bit of a shock for a young space cowboy.
I got mine for $87CAN shipped from Amazon.ca, which is close to $65US. I'm not expecting anything as good as the A&E remasters of Space:1999 second season, but hopefully it won't be too bad. Some of those old shows look pretty good in rerun. As long as it doesn't look like felgercarb.
I know what you mean about recycling SFX. Cylon craft peels left...BOOM! (flip the film for a peel right) Even as a wee sprout watching the original broadcast run, I picked out the "Agroships" lifted from Silent Running. Anyone able to post some picks of the packaging while I wait in deep...
I don't know that Aaron "Love Boat, SWAT, Starsky & Hutch, Fantasy Island, Dynasty, Beverly Hills 90210, yada yada" Spelling and Leonard "pretty much the same as Aaron" Goldberg are exactly lightweights in the production racket... I just hope this isn't model pricing for Universal, otherwise...
The pricing for TV series is getting pretty ridiculous. How come a 5 disc set of the complete 23 episode Charlie's Angels streets for just over $30CAN, while Battlestar Galactica, with fewer episodes comes in for over $100 more? While the supplements look good, this does feel like a gouge...
What they'll do is release the original series bare bones, then jam pack the 1980 series with extras to sucker everyone into buying it. :D I'm just glad Uni finally put a date on it. I am now hoping that they don't mess up the packing too bad with some Legendish abomination or new noggin...
