in the HK original, it's very clear that the mob boss tipped off the cops to throw them off... actually it's a bit more complex than that, through IA2&3 the sequels, you see more history of why the mob boss is the way he is, a "victim" of circumstances in the life of crime. it takes on a more...
sam, jack wasn't working for FBI, he was feeding them false info to throw them off the trail. secondly, try Infernal Affairs (the HK version) and things will become more clear =D. it's all about cat&mouse game, on the mob side there are 2 moles, on the cop side, there are 2 moles. the HK...
that goes without saying. i dunno why this keeps popping up from different people every now and then. the assumption is that the person who is creating the post is posting his opinion and not HTF nor the general populus. if i make a sweeping generalization, then that's mine to keep but not to...
1. Absolutely, in fact, the other Marty films are much better than The Departed. 2. If you liked The Departed, please be sure to check out Infernal Affairs (that's FERNAL, not ternal!), the original HK movie that this Departed was made from. imho, that has much better pathos than this one...

saw this tonight. yous guys hyped it up so much that it kinda' set me up for disappointment. imho, there has not been any marty films that have moved me emotionally and this one is no exception. i still think IA is better. BTW the ending of this 1 is kinda' lifted from IA3's ending...
note that phrase. that's why i mentioned 7 sam. even casual Western film goers that aren't interested in Eastern cinema have heard or know of 7 sam.
but this thread is about the departed. i'm very excited about this film because of Boston!!! i hope they do well on the accent.
IA is one of the pinnacles of Asian cinema... in the East. but in the West it's just a "thriller" heheheh. very interesting. anyway, the only acceptance the West has of Eastern cinema is Kurosawa in a big way. the rest... is harder? curious.
