I'm also a little more than halfway done with the first Picard novel and it is what the first season should have been. I'll have more to say when I'm done, but it's a great read. Thank you to Josh and Sam for recommending it.

Not a huge shock on the acting or series side...but really...Picard isn't best series material.

I did pick it up right after I saw the price. It'll be the next book on my list...currently in the middle of DS9: Objective Bajor. I'm looking forward to it based on your recommendation, Josh.

There's likely to be lots of time for that price to drop like a rock before the actual release date. Both Discovery S1 and S2 settled around $35 per season on release day.

Just to be clear: I'm not against the idea. It makes sense in some ways to me. I don't like how it seemingly comes out of nowhere after four years with Seven on Voyager and a the first season with both characters in Picard.

Sure. Talking about any episode of any show by itself is a knee jerk reaction without knowing where the rest of the season is going to go. That's how this works. If the episode is good enough, it can stand on its own and stand in the context of the larger story. Problem is, for me, this one...

As of right now, you're not alone. That can easily change depending on the rest of the season. But in a vacuum, yes. Silly waste of resources.
