This has got to be the most shoddily produced reality show on any major network. At least I know I don't have to bother with last night's episode now...or really next week's finale. I think The Invasion was more fun than On the Lot last night...
Ron, I completely understand. Zach was the most talented from a visual standpoint, but his last two films really didn't do a whole lot for me. As part of a bigger story, they might have worked. But both parts were just excuses to do more special effects. They were too "insider-y" for the average...
You've never heard of Jerry O'Connell? He was the fat kid in Stand By Me, starred in the TV show Sliders and is on Crossing Jordan, among other stuff. He's not a huge name, but still. :)
The blind guy gave the girl glasses which allowed her to see people as they really were, without the prejudices we all have. The street cleaner, IIRC, was something along the lines of an angel while the people worried about their appearances were ugly.
I feel very bad for Shalini. She got roasted by Carrie and Luke for no good reason. Was her film a message movie? Absolutely. Was it a worthwhile message? Definitely. Have we seen it before in this configuration? Nope. It was a real hum-drum night before she took the stage. I was less than...
Ron, I don't know who this Colin person is, but it sounds like he's the lovechild of Kenny and Marty. Notice his answer about what's more important: talent or ego? Ego. I already HAVE the talent, so ego must be what's missing. Not to mention the Favorite Joke: "Q: How many actors...
I have one question and one question only: if this was such a big problem since early in this year, why did it take so long for it to reach anyone outside the competition? This started going down in January and February...how come no one outside the competition heard of it until July? Part...
Just an FYI: this week's episode (the horror films) airs as normal on Tuesday @ 8. Next week's show airs Monday, July 9, at 8. I gues it's time to play "find the show on the Fox schedule."
Yep, had problems with that too. We have a shot of a caveman without hands on the wheel and then he skids to a stop, turning slightly, in front of his "friends". And the entire punchline, as it was (I think), revolved around biting the right portion of the little gizmo. It was the reason the...
There was no one happier that Jessica left than I was. When Gary and Adrianna showed up to eliminate her, I thought they were going to tell someone a family member was dead and/or dying. Again, Zack and Shalini are the winners of the week because they made the audience (and me) laugh. And...
I had to rewind a couple times to make sure but, yes, they did laugh. I'm quite shocked none of the judges mentioned it. While I enjoyed and respect Will and Zach's movies, I think Jason's was the most ambitious, if not wholly successful because he didn't have enough time to use. The ability...
I forget if it's been mentioned here or not, but there is a small blurb about On the Lot in this week's Entertainment Weekly (the one with Pitt and Clooney on the cover). It makes reference to the taped Tuesday show. I'll be able to get the exact quote when I get home.
First Marty is saved after "The Big Bad Heist" and then Kenny gets a pass with "Wack Alley Cab". Now, Trever gets the boot in favor of Hilary? Serious? Who's voting for these movies? Anyway, tonight: "Polished" and "Beeline" are safe, I'd think. "Edge on the End" and "Dance with the Devil"...
Derek, yeah, it was about the uneasiness, but at some point, conferring that uneasy to the audience for any length of time is going to turn them off to what you're trying to do. I was a big fan of her first film (the peeing on the bus); I just felt this one was full of caricatures we didn't need...
They finally got all the production kinks out of the way!!! No missed cues, no promo marathon to start the show..competently made. Maybe going to one day a week is actually going to help. One thing, though: if we're not going to know the results until next Tuesday, couldn't voting be left...
I'd imagine that they'd try to pull out all the stops for something like the season finale, when the ultimate winner is announced. If the show makes it that far, that is.
Yup, noticed that too. How many different promos did we have before the show started for all sorts of different programs? There had to be four, at least. I can't understand why this would have had any issues production wise. Does Idol? Whatever Fox learned from putting that show on, apply it...
Please gag me now. I'm so ticked off I don't know where to start. I can mentally block out Adrianna Costa or the applause drowning her out or the commercials, even. I can deal with the padding and seeing the top three films again. But good god, people, at least vote correctly. There is...
I was voting literally two minutes after the credits rolled. I didn't get my confirm e-mail until this morning when I got into work. Verified everything and said vote was counted. I would have thought it would be instantaneous.
I could be wrong and I'll double check when I get home, but I swear I saw "writer" or some variation thereof in the credits last night. To go from concept to scripting to filming, post production, music, effects and stunts in a week? Sure, it was one minute, but something had to give.
Thank god we got to the show proper last night. The first two dreadful episodes were nearly enough to make me stop watching. I only found three of the films to be head scratchingly bad: Wack Alley Cab, ...To Screw in a Lightbulb and The Big Bad Heist. Every other one had something positive in...
I'm in for the next 13 weeks, though I got a little annoyed with the entire group by the 45 minute mark. Like the judge's said, sleep before you come in to pitch and don't make excuses. That's Reality 101, not just Moviemaking 101. I can understand being nervous about the pitch. You're not...
