I'm a bit sensitive on this subject since another guy and I just carried a 27" TV up a single flight of stairs and it was a nightmare in close quarters. I'd rent a dolly...a good appliance dolly with a wide lip...and put a folded moving pad under the TV and drape another one over the screen...
