Furthermore, she was a significant presence throughout Far From Home when she was dating Ned and didn't even make it onto any of those posters as far as I recall. So why put her on this one? I don't understand the rationale behind shoving everyone on there. Except Alfred Molina, who is only...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

That makes sense. I don't want to know what the new post-credits scene is, so I'm not going to read that link. But the initial post-credits scene was the first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is now irrelevant. There would be no purpose to showing that again...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

The poster concept Sony couldn't use last time is now no longer a spoiler, so here it is. In the social media post of this poster, they also said tickets for the re-release will go on sale tomorrow.

The trades are reporting it now and do say that it will have IMAX and PLFs (premium large format screens.) You are correct. It inserted the footage from the "Peter's To-Do List" short on the Blu-ray into the first act of the film. Near the end, there was another scene in which "Nick Fury"...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I don't think the re-release is related to that. Sony also released an extended version of Far From Home in theaters in September 2019, so they've done this before. I honestly think it is just an attempt to make more money. which is exactly what it was last time. And it will probably work...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

As part of Disney and Sony's arrangement to place Spider-Man in the MCU, they share characters. Peter (whose film rights are owned by Sony) was "on loan" to appear in Civil War and Avengers. In exchange for that, Disney-owned MCU characters are "on loan" to Sony for use in their Spider-Man...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Well, that makes sense. I probably did know that in the theater on December 16 and forgot. Thanks for the reminder.

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I only saw No Way Home in theaters once. I loved it, and I would have gone back to it again under any circumstances other than a pandemic. I was glad to go once, but I don't think a second trip to the same movie is an acceptable risk right now. So my second viewing will be when the Blu-ray...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I could do that, but part of what I want is a complete set of official releases for the trilogy. So that wouldn't really give me exactly what I want. I've streamed it on my computer several times, so it's not like I don't have access to the music. It's just a matter of wanting to complete the...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

This is an oddity. As I have mentioned before in this thread, I'm a big fan of Michael Giacchino's work as the composer for the Tom Holland trilogy and I own the first two soundtracks. Homecoming (2017) is a traditional pressed disc CD. Far From Home (2019) is a manufactured-on-demand CD-R...

You only figured that out in the theater? I'm not saying this to be mean, but I had the sense of what they were going for a long time ago. As soon as there was discussion about having villains returning from previous iterations, whether Maguire and Garfield had been in it or not, I understood...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

For anyone interested, Deadline has posted the screenplay for No Way Home in its entirety (minus the credits tag.) It's very interesting reading. I loved the movie, but due to present circumstances, I don't think a second theatrical viewing is the best idea for me. So I've enjoyed being able...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I think that the issue of continuity becomes most important when you're discussing something with an overarching narrative where you need to see certain movies in order to understand other ones. The pre-Craig Bond films had some recurring characters but the stories are mostly standalone In that...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I said that prior to No Way Home, the Maguire and Garfield films existed in a separate continuity from the MCU and from each other when they were made. The events of No Way Home retroactively connect all three live-action versions of Spider-Man using the multiverse The events of the Maguire...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

They are canon unto themselves; they're just not beholden to somebody else's story. Why does everything have to be canon to something else in order for it to be valuable? The idea that everything has to be connected in order for it to matter is flawed. Into the Spider-Verse is no less...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Joker is not canon to the DCEU for the same reason that The Batman is not canon to the DCEU. Whether it could be or not is irrelevant. Todd Phillips and Matt Reeves, respectively, wanted the creative freedom to do whatever they want with their films without the obligation to connect them to...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

The Blu-ray.com database currently says April 12. I don't know where they got that information because I haven't seen a press release yet. If true, that would be a little later than I expected. But it makes sense to hold it back for a while as long as it is still raking in money at the box...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Into the Spider-Verse is absolutely canon. It is just in a separate continuity from the live-action films, but that doesn't devalue it in any way. The fact that it is spawning two sequels demonstrates how important it is to Sony and how well audiences responded to it. Prior to the events of...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Actually, I would bet that there are a good amount of people seeing No Way Home who did not see Into the Spider-Verse. Of course the hardcore Spider-Man fans saw it, and its acclaim has only grown since its theatrical release. But that film did not perform anywhere close to the level that No...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

If it had been Topher Grace, it wouldn't have been a cheat. I wouldn't have liked that much either, but it would have made sense. Bringing in Tom Hardy simply because they want to promote their own franchise, when it was Topher Grace who knew Peter, is a cheat as far as I am concerned. So we...

    Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I think it is because all of the other villains in the movie were there as part of part of Peter Parker's story. Venom felt shoehorned in simply because Sony wants to crisscross their franchises.
