Salvador, I know how you feel. I bought a Marantz 5200 thinking it would be cost effective. It was cost ineffective, unfortunately. Good price, but problematic units.

I'm not familiar with Mordaunt-Short loudspeakers, but I agree that tonal neutrality is the result of a speaker-amplifier combination as well as room acoustics (in fact, I find room acoustics to be an even larger contributer than speakers or amplifiers).

I traded up to the Yamaha RX-V1200 and there are no dropouts or clicks or any weird stuff. Just a well-built receiver. While the bass cannot be controlled by the remote control, it has a knob on the front, and I think that knob actually alters DSP parameters which alter the bass...
