    I was always pleasantly surprised how season 2 continued the greatness of season 1 and at times felt it even topped the first, the first couple of season 2 episodes are incredibly strong and excellent.     I'd say the first two seasons were definitely the very best, as good as classic 1960s telly gets, the third is a mixed bag for me so far (music issues notwithstanding series lowpoint being Conspiracy of Silence) and the forth season shall remain to be seen...
