Just to clarify, the family did not sell any prints directly to collectors. There was an initial sale of prints to Blackhawk Films who in turn sold them thru their mail order catalog. Many years later David sold multiple prints of most episodes to Gaines 16 Film Company in order to reduce...
Most of them look a lot better especially if watching on a larger screen size. The Shout transfers were mostly older transfers from 35mm prints. These are mostly from the 35mm negatives. Sharp and clear.
Would you kindly reveal your sources for this misinformation? And why continue to post here if you have nothing positive to contribute? The TimeLife deal was not part of the original campaign but certainly most welcome. Why do you seem to have a personal desire for this to fail?
So far I've counted 124 "Missing Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" recorded off the Disney Channel in 1987. I need to make sure there are no duplicates since I didn't write down all the titles at the time, just the dates.
The syndicator was American International Television. I even wrote to them back then asking why the show was running mostly on UHF independent low-rated stations. They wrote back and basically said they were giving the show their best efforts (wrong).
I also wondered why the show never had a...
While the show was never widely syndicated (due to poor efforts on the syndicator's part), the show had a good run on The Disney Channel (back when the channel honored its studio history rather than ignoring it) in the late 80s. Harriet did a new intro and I'm thankful I recorded as many as I...
I must strongly disagree with your comments about Ozzie and Harriet fans. My wife and I were kids in the 50s (she wasn't my wife then) and we are alive and kicking in our late 60s. We still listen to the 50s channel on Sirius/XM, we watch and remember shows like O&H, Beaver, I Love Lucy and 77...
Actually David didn't sell directly to collectors but sold the 16mm delay prints to Gaines Films (Gaines was a big 16mm dealer back in the day of mostly TV shows and film shorts). Gaines sold them to collectors. Blackhawk Films was really the first dealer to sell prints of the show but only for...
Harriet was in a number of movies most prominently featured in "Follow the Fleet" with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. She was the vocalist with Ozzie's band too. Interestingly she never used the Nelson name until the TV series began.
In his latest update Sam requested that these updates should only be available to actual donors to the project and not posted elsewhere so I'm honoring that request.
AFAIK except for Rick's songs all the music was either scored for each episode of the show in the early years or from Capitol's production library with whom Ozzie had a deal for both getting music from and giving music to.
I just finished rechecking the Shout set of "The Best of the Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet." Based on my knowledge of how this program has been handled over the years (and being able to tell the difference between 35mm and 16mm transfers) what I see is that most of Disc 1 is from 16mm. These...
KTLA in Los Angeles was running 35mm prints of many off-network shows in the 70s and later. I was there. Besides Ozzie they were running 35s of The Big Valley for example. As a major independent station they wanted to look as much like the networks as possible. The Shout shows with the 1985...
The color has faded on the 35 and 16mm prints. They would have been 20 years old already when transferred to tape. Not all the Shout episodes came from the tape transfers.
