Yep. I have a good friend whose two favorite genres are spaghetti westerns and noirs. He loves the violence and cynicism. I’m gonna email with this news now. He’ll be elated.
Gary “thank you, Kino, for continuing to knock them out of the park” O. :thumbs-up-smiley:
Not necessarily. Remember the Insider told us the Roy Rogers films did terrible. Unfortunate, because I really like those straight white hat/black hat westerns from the 30s and 40s.
I’ve bought many, many titles from Kino. You are diverse, and I’m appreciative of that. I’m sure I’ll continue to buy many titles in the future. While it is true that your last deal with Universal disappointed me a tad, as I was hoping for some releases that didn’t get picked up, my post above...
From your mouth to Kino's ears. Sarongs and island adventure fun are a winning combo. Glad for the cover art chosen for this coming set. White Savage is a solid picture.
If the 2nd set was going to include the first three mentioned I'm devastated. Mad About Music, That Certain Age, and Nice Girl? were three titles I was really hoping for. The final three mentioned I would have bought, but if they had cancelled a third set it wouldn't have bothered me. Wish...
Crap. That’s a knife into my heart. I hope, at a minimum, Kino will release “Here Come the Nelsons” and some Dorothy Lamour Sarong films. Those would provide some salve to the wound.
Thanks, Kino, for more Lamour. That's always a good thing in my book!
Gary "guess Dorothy's 'Sarong' pictures are out in this deal - perhaps next time" O.
Deanna Durbin was all but forgotten among modern viewers until a decade or so ago when a few of her films were finally released. It was barely in the nick of time, or she really would have passed out of our national consciousness. I fear that the same will happen to Dorothy Lamour's sarong...
Not a Dorothy Lamour Sarong film, but it's better than nothing.
Up next: Jungle Princess; Her Jungle Love; Beyond the Blue Horizon; Typhoon and Aloma of the South Seas.
Gary "all in one nice boxed-set" O. :drum:
"In June 2003, the Fox Movie Channel cancelled a planned Charlie Chan Festival, soon after beginning restoration for cablecasting, after a special-interest group protested. Fox reversed its decision two months later, and on 13 September 2003, the first film in the festival was aired on Fox. The...
Runner-ups for me would have to include:
The Magic Sword
Day of the Outlaw (which, btw, was not about Tina Louise's bosom)
Reap the Wildwind
Considering what to pick up in this current sale isn't easy. But I know I'll have to act soon. And in thinking about these titles, I've thought about some of the recent releases (let's say last 6 months) I've enjoyed the most.
So here are my Top 5 Recent Kino Releases:
5) Night Passage
4)...
That last line has almost prophetically been foreshadowed with most every post & announcement after yours, @Bert Greene. LOL
Gary "still hoping for some releases in the vein you mentioned, buddy" O.
Rewatched “Red Canyon” tonight and think it would be a beautiful Blu selection for Kino’s Universal deal. Fabulous early color western!
Gary “would be worth it for the scenery alone” O.
