I wish they would do a good 4k UHD+standard Blu-ray remaster with a fresh 4K scan of The Wild Bunch. It would be a purchase of mine. Same for The Searchers, which Robert Harris says can now be properly restored.
Thanks everyone for clarifying. I so look forward to full restorations of The Wild Bunch and The Searchers for 4K, now that we have the technology available to do what we couldn’t do then. I still like my Blu-Rays for both.
A question I’ve always had, with all the references to a 70mm print and all, even if the movie was shot on 35mm, do we have the original camera negative for the movie still to work from for a full scale restoration/scan?
Agreed. It already looks splendid as is. It, and The Searchers, and the other great Peckinpah and Ford movies, would look splendid in 4K.
These two, plus a revamp of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, and a restoration and release of 7 Women, are what I’m most looking forward to seeing.
