Hello,
The data has been loaded for comparisons on Goodfellas
and The Exorcist. ;)
Please continue to support the website!
If enough support comes in, the site could be back up by the end of August!
:emoji_thumbsup:
It is not easy running and supporting a FREE website. I was amazed he did so much while working. His site is a top hit website at DVD-Basen. Gary is also trying to do what he can by selling off some of his OOP DVD's on EBay. As a collector, I know that can hurt. There is stuff in the queue...
My pc dvd drive is locked to region 1 right now :angry:
So I can do a comparison of the old Mulan vs. the
planned 2 disc SE when it comes out.
:emoji_thumbsup:
It is a team effort, I do what basic grabs I have
in my collection. Gary and Henrik do a ton of work
with grabs, resizing, web setup and evauating the stuff.
I am glad I can help out.:emoji_thumbsup:
Hello,
I made the date error.
:b
I will try and get the US disc again and
check the date on the VOB files, I suspect
the 1997 date is correct.
I should have checked more sources than
just Amason.
:angry:
Gary has been kind enough to post a capture of the laserdisc color bar in with the Dance with Wolves comparison. The colors are a bit saturated, bit close enough.
Hello, The laserdisc was used only to show the color and contrast intent from a previous NTSC version. I used a Pioneer CLD-D502 into a Philips DVDR72. The Philips is a DVD+R burner, then I used PowerDVD. The laserdisc player did NOT have S-Video, so the capture is via a RCA jack only...
I should jump in and defend Gary. I did all of the work on the 2 Beatles comparisons, he does not alway have the discs for all of the comparisons on his site. The MPI is smoother in the transition from mono to stereo. It's just that the BV is richer in the B&W rendering. I do agree...
Please, PLEASE to a comparison of the US Criterion vs. UK Anchor Bay versions of Knife in the Water. I am hoping I can get away with just getting the 3 movie set from the UK. It would be very costly to get the US version for a better picture with the supplements and then get the UK version...
It would be great if you could get a comparison of the new Chaplin films coming out from Warner (by mk2) vs. the old OOP Image editions. It will be a 4 films, 2 discs each! Modern Times The Great Dictator The Gold Rush Limelight
I am glad that I am sitting down,
because I could have just fallen over.
Thanks and I can't wait!
Mr. Ebert has a very nice review;

Can you please get some info on the US vs. Canadian version
of Atanarjuat or The Fast Runner.
In Canada you can get a 2 disc version and the one disc US
version is planned to come out.
There is a review of the US version already at;

Please add a comment that the "Andrei Rublev" run time differences are due to them being very different cuts. Whole scenes are cut out of the Ruscico version that are in the Criterion version.
