Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

Still, I remember in another conversation (think it was around the time of Raimi's Oz movie) trying to persuade one who wasn't alive to have seen it in theaters just why Return had such a....questionable box-office reputation. We tried showing the clip where Dorothy walks through the room of...

Okay, apart from the fact that it's been a disk holy-grail, I'd love to hear what people find so "nostalgic" about Return to Oz. (Yes, David Shire's score was a lost classic, and you could sense there was a Baum-faithful script, just that it was being directed by a deranged madman.)

Same here--I was so busy searching out price deals and exclusive Target digibooks when the Diamond editions first hit, I've got everything. I couldn't find 4 titles even if they did cost $1, and the Herbie movies didn't go mainstream retail.

Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

I keep trying to join, just in case my instinct for Herbie and Yeller's "test-run" turns out to be wrong-- But problem is....I already HAVE all the Disney movies I need, and I never buy new ones until the next Platinum. :( (I'm not buying the new Sleeping Beauty and getting rid of my old '08...

Think they DID work out the shipping cost, and that's why they're not doing it. (Ever try to send a letter across the Canadian border, which takes a couple weeks at best?)

Poitier was on the Disney board in the 90's ("Shoot to Kill"?), and reportedly killed the '96 50th-anniversary theatrical revival they thought they needed before the VHS. Now, it's just down to Iger, but I hear the '15-'16 retirement "deathwatch" has been postponed. Pressler had a deep...

Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

Respective answers: 1) The movie (which Disney certainly has commercial eyes on) reportedly still needs a bit more mastering, and B) the ride, like most water rides, was pre-access and too much upkeep--Paul Pressler, in the late 90's/early 00's, was a notorious "attraction-killer" (okay, who...

For all intents, the DMC Exclusive is the Disney Warner Archive--This is just the first time they've done recognizable titles, and as mentioned, that's a bit teasingly suspicious... ^_^ If you ordered, say, So Dear to My Heart or Story of Robin Hood, you could be pretty well assured that they...

Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

I just keep having the theme song (and proper tense of the verb) stuck when I see the title: It is rather suspicious, yes: If they were "unwanted", Disney wouldn't go through the trouble of Blu-ray, and if they were determined to make Blu-ray exclusives, they would've started with something...

Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

Also, since she assumed you were asking about THIS one, with the yellow cover and "Blu Exclusive" at the top, not the one that may or may not be announced commercially till spring or fall (ie. as part of a big retail initiative, not the "upgrade").... And this, of course, is not going wide quite...

Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (pronoun trouble) was also on the Rumor list to be going retail for '15, IIRC. Between this, Old Yeller, Pollyanna and the Herbies, sound like the Blu Club Exclusives are just doing advance sales to generate interest, but they can't keep expensive Blu's hiding...

Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

It's rumored that the two might show up in a wide retail combo, with a '15 push for famous live-action titles, and a pair of Blu masters makes the prospects look very good right about now. At least for the two "real" Herbie movies, not sure whether the non-Stevenson Monte Carlo and Goes Bananas...

Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?

Used to be that the only incentive for joining the DMC was the "exclusive" Warner-Archive-equivalent bare-bones disks of rare titles (like Condorman, The Monkey's Uncle or Donald in Mathmagic Land) that would only be available from the Club for two years before going for wide sales, but seems...
