    Missing Link (2019)

I ended up seeing this Sunday afternoon. I had gone to it Saturday, only to find out that they had changed the time from 5:00pm to 4:40pm due to a broken projector. When it comes to story this Laika outing is probably the one with the least depth as far as characterization goes. It also relied a...

    Missing Link (2019)

I don't doubt for a minute that it is stop-motion. They haven't made any other type of animated film since they started making films under that brand-name. It may have some elements of CG for all I know, but the characters and sets are all physical. It is just that they have gotten so good at...

    Missing Link (2019)

There were a few reviews where the reviewer complained about it being "boring". Dig this quote from one woman's review: "I love animation, but I'm really turned off by stop motion animation (including cgi pretending to be stop motion style, like this one)." LOL. Laika animators have gotten...

    Missing Link (2019)

I'll let you know. Just trying to decide whether to go to the early showing or the 5:00 pm showing.

    Missing Link (2019)

I read a few audience reviews, where people were complaining about "gun violence" because there were a few scenes where guns were being pointed at people. All I could think was those people would die of apoplexy if they ever watched a Japanese anime like "Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka", where...

    Missing Link (2019)

It's down to only two showings where I live. One at 2:40 and one at 5:00. Both in standard. Guess I'll try to see it tomorrow as I think it will be gone by the end of next week.

    Missing Link (2019)

I hope it lasts long enough at the theatre for me to see it. Generally, I have liked Laika's efforts; although, I was somewhat underwhelmed by "Boxtrolls". Visually, it was an amazing looking film, but I really couldn't connect with the story.

    Missing Link (2019)

The thing with Laika is that they don't care about creating appealing looking "cute" characters that translate well into merchandise outside of their films (ie, toys). As an animation fan that makes me happy since it shows that Laika cares more about creating animated films that are about the...

    Missing Link (2019)

Laika's films do not do well because the characters are not "cute" and the stories are not gag-filled family comedies with a lot of "feels" moments. I mean take "Paranorman" and "Kubo" for example. Paranorman dealt with a misunderstood and somewhat disliked kid, who had to deal with the...
