77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

I wonder if all the Surfside 6 episodes are stowed away in a WB vault somewhere. I have the MeTV episodes, but the fellow that made the set used awful unwatchable materials for many of the episodes. The MeTV ones, though, looked pretty nice. Sure would love to see the others in their glory...

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

I have the 77 Sunset Strip, Bourbon Street Beat and Hawaiian Eye Me-TV/Goodlife 3rd party archived sets with very few complaints about the viewable quality of all episodes in them. Sadly, the Surfside 6 set has a majority of simply unwatchable episodes, a mere shadow of its handful of "quality"...

WOW! The PQ of the German set above is wonderful. My set (don't ask) is rather soft with numerous drop outs and the audio has much louder foley and effects than dialogue. If the above one had an English track I'd buy it in a second. Also have a Surfside 6 set with even worse PQ and audio...

Right, Timeless must have paid MILLIONS in order to include those. Obviously not. To me this is just one of the ten ton gorillas in the room that points to the real truth, that WB just doesn't give a rat's ass. A limited release would do very well and diminish the music rights costs...

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

Like everyone here, I'd love to own 77 Sunset Strip on disc but am honestly curious how in hell a late 50's television series music clearance could be so damned cost prohibitive. Maybe a special limited release of a few thousand DVD sets could lower the music costs and make the surviving fans...

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

And odd thought I suppose, but what if WB did a limited collectors run of say 2000 or 3000 77 Sunset Strip sets for a "special" price. Would that make their music rights payout burden more palatable? Would that be worth their effort and provide enough profit? Seems sad to see this classic...
