I'd snag that one up on BD, and especially quickly if rezzed up to 4K. It's a beautiful looking film, with James Cagney coming out of retirement for his final film appearance. Amazon tells me I bought the DVD in 2005. Needs a new release.
Sad but true. Though there may be some truth also in the perspective that with a stall on new film production, releases of catalog titles - on some format, streaming and/or disk - may be a strategy to keep things going.
Thanks! As a theater degree guy, I appreciate the art of film and home theater, but have to rely on the tech savvy folk to explain why things look good! I knew something was missing in streaming. It's those bits!
I'd like to get an improved picture quality on BD or UHD for The Godfather. I have The Coppola Collection and it is pretty sad looking on my OLED, washed out blacks, greys. Is there a better release? Would love to see it in 4K.
4K and Atmos always look and sound better on disk in my system (Oppo UDP 205) than streamed. I understand the economics behind limited releases on disk. But I don't understand why streaming is inferior technologically. I get fast streaming, based on Speedtest results etc. Is it due to streaming...
