    That did the trick. I connected a component cable from the DVD player to the TV, leaving the audio connected to the AV receiver. Now I can watch TV, Netflix, Youtube, play DVD and VCR, using surround sound. Thank you soooooo much for your kind patience. I wish you the best imaginable.
