The description says that it has 159 shorts, which I'm assuming means Casanova Cat and Mouse Cleaning have been excluded. Most of the discs from my Spotlight Collections are all in terrible shape and tend freeze up a lot, so I may look into this set.
Has anyone here (or somebody that you know) ever had the opportunity to see the stamp scene that was cut from the reissue of Yankee Doodle Mouse? I really hope that a reel with the original version of the short is eventually found one day. Since the background and script still exist, maybe it...
There's only a few sections in the US Jones set where I could notice that something on the top of the screen was cut-off. One example is from Jerry-Go-Round, during the scene when the elephant is sucking Jerry out of Tom's hands. In the 1.33:1 version, you can see all of Tom's face. But in the...
Excellent posts! In a perfect world, Warner would be able to include both aspect ratios for these cartoons, but the problem is that it would likely require more discs and a more expensive retail price. With that said, my main method of watching TV is through my CRT, so I try to watch things in...
I haven't checked either of them out yet, but I'd like to sometime this week. There's also some liner notes from Jerry Beck and Deitch himself inside the case.
I finally received the Gene Deitch Collection. I've watched the first 4 shorts and they look light years better than the murky TV prints we've been stuck with for lord knows how long. The colors are incredibly vibrant and the whole restoration looks very similar to what we got on the Golden...
Bad news guys :(. I just received this email from Overstock:

That's really interesting. Since the set isn't on sale anywhere else, I think this could mean one of 4 possibilities:
1. The site has mistakenly listed GC Vol.2 as being in stock.
2. Copies of Vol. 1 are up for sale on Vol. 2's listing page by mistake.
3. Some idiot has listed Vol. 2 for...
I still have the Birthday Classics Vol. 3 VHS from when I was a kid. The video quality of Mouse Cleaning on this tape only looks average to me, though that might be due to it being VHS. Here's the Turner print of the short, which has some pretty accurate colors compared to some of the other...
There has to be an explanation concerning the fact that many of the Turner prints of these shorts have blue tinting. It gets so bad that I need to turn the color halfway down just to make some shorts watchable IMHO. I'll post some pics later to show how excessive the tinting can get.
Some episodes on Vol. 2 used the incorrect audio track with Mammy's voice dubbed over to sound less stereotypical. Some of these included Puss Gets the Boot, Nit Witty Kitty, and Saturday Evening Puss. I believe there were others as well. The point is that Warner later issued replacement discs...
Does anyone know if the versions of several shorts featuring the re-colorings and Irish voice dubs of Mammy from Chuck Jones' team still exist? I saw a Saturday Morning 1960's DVD set that seems to have a 60's TV version of Triplet Trouble and some VHS/Laserdisc releases that contain the edited...
Hello everyone :wave-hello: . This is my first post here, and I hope to contribute to this site often. Back in October, I became reacquainted with the Tom and Jerry shorts and I now own most of them via the Spotlight Collections, Golden Collection Vol. 1, and the Chuck Jones Collection. I'm also...
