Internet Browsers: What are YOU using? (And why?)

I started with punch cards and Algol around 1972. I think IT work sucks because the rules constantly keep changing on you. Now that I'm retired it's even worse. Just playing around with Win 10 drives me nuts somedays.

OK so Edge Chromium will be "pushed" with normal Windows Updates soon. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-edge-rolls-out-in-windows-10-2004-via-windows-update/ The article doesn't exactly say "when". I got the Patch Tuesday updates yesterday but had already loaded Edge...

In today's world I may trust MS more than G. So far so good. I wonder when the new Edge will be mandated in the monthly Patch Tuesday update.

Well this is interesting. Unlike downloading other browsers, downloading the new Edge Chromium deletes your copy of heritage Edge. You can't toggle back and forth to compare performance. :emoji_pouting_cat: Status: Version 81.0.416.68 (Official build) (64-bit) So far so good. It...

I haven't seen anyone discuss MS Edge Chromium. It's been released to the general public since 15 January 2020. The computer mags put up reviews from that date to about two weeks later but nothing since early February. Have 3 months of early bug fixes produced a decent build?

Internet Browsers: What are YOU using? (And why?)

I've just discovered a handy feature of Edge. Up to the left of the star icon for saving a bookmark, there's an open-book icon. Click it and the page displayed may be viewed in some kind of "book mode" which is much easier to read. The open book icon only gets active for some but not all...

News about Microsoft. Edge is dead, and will be replaced by "Mickey Mouse" Anaheim browser based on open-source Chrome. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2018/12/report-microsoft-is-scrapping-edge-switching-to-just-another-chrome-clone/ Everytime I hear the word "Anaheim" I immediately...

Internet Browsers: What are YOU using? (And why?)

Edge under Win10 has been very stable, but has one really annoying trait. It begins to require lots of CPU cycles when its caches begin to fill up. When my machine begins to slow down I know it's time to go delete lots of Edge history files. I also have a copy of Chrome loaded for the rare...

I think they used to be called "radio buttons" as they worked like radio buttons on old car radios.
