Hi david, Yeah the vests they used I belive were not real leather, just a vinyly-plastic type. There is more detail in this disc and on my 92" screen, I could tell they weren't leather. The one I got that they sell is leather but needs to be more beat up looking. :)
It is anamorphic. But the new transfer looks better. And the sound, woah! Ok, I gotta say, as an alternate version, it worked for me. There were MANY subtle instances of a zoom in or out to change the feel of a shot and IMHO they worked. they are VERY, very subtle. If you didn't know the...
Thanks for passing that on, Martin! Mellowed me out. I wonder why they decided not to at least include the deleted scenes in some version? They have been seen in the TV cut for years. And the commentary would have been awesome! :)
Arghhh...? :) Good news about the picture and docs. I'm starting to open my mind about it. I would have preferred the original cut with new transfer and audio but I can deal. And if R2 does indeed get the commentary and deleted scenes, it's classic Paramount. "Titanic" here with one less disc...
I actually saw David Patrick Kelly doing Chekhov on Broadway! Uncle Vanya, I believe where he sang and strummed a guitar! Good actor. He also eats at my sister's restaurant in manhattan alot. :) d
From reading more reviews over on The Warriors site, this is just sounding worse and worse.... "...got the R1 director's cut DVD last night.. i was surprised to see the comic-book intro opening and a few comic-book intermissions in the whole movie and a comic ending (no live action showing...
IMHO there is a difference between shooting something with a comic-book vibe, like "The Crow" which actually Was A CB and being so literal with replicated panels like "Creepshow" was. I just think it's gonna look silly and take all the suspense right out of the flick. Before it was atmospheric...
The original disc is anamorphic and looks great, especially for an older film. No EE, no heavy filtering. The new release (at least in R1) might actually look worse with overpumped colors, softened and then electronically shapened and brightened up.
:) I was describing this to my friend who is a total Warriors nut like me and he mentioned because "Kill Bill" had some comic-y stuff that maybe that's why... Only saw it once when it came out and don't really remember. Creepshow I do have and it definitely has that vibe. My friend Brian who...
Thanks again Stephen! I don't know how I feel. Either this might be a very cool alternative concept, like a Warhol version of the film or it'll really screw it up. I'm sure I'll get it but don't know if I'll ever watch it more than once. I thought he was putting some of the scenes back in like...
Thanks for the heads-up, Stephen! Wow. The Warriors is one of my faves and I was all pysched for this "ultimate director's cut" but that does indeed sound crap IMHO. What audience is Hill making this new version for? The graphic novel, anime crowd? No offense but that's never the way I saw the...
Hi Stephen, Did you notice if any of the backgrounds are altered? Hill said in that interview that they were gonna do some CGI, I think.... And also, how does the transfer compare to the original disc? And how's the new 5.1 mix? I know, I'm a nudge. ;)
It's about 4 minutes longer. Check out this GREAT site for more info. http://warriorsmovie.co.uk/ and... check out these! My friend and I have ordered ours! Dale the guy who makes them is REAL cool. http://a-1americanflags.com/warriorsvest001.html and here is a pic. of me and my...
Guess what guys, when Swan, Ajax and Snow are running from the Furies and stop on the street when Ajax says, "Did we lose these f*cking clowns..." that's my apartment window! That's 100th street between West End ave. and Riverside Drive and one of my windows is in the shot, (has black iron bars...
